Obviously couldn't find a theatre.. I guess they would also be desperate to keep Tyrone for the transfer seeing as he got the biggest raves.

Tyrone Huntley was the best thing about the show. I'm not sure I would've enjoyed it as much in a 'traditional' theatre setting.

Several people here mentioned the thing I later heard from one of the actors: ALW would prefer his 2 rock musicals not to "steal" audiences from each other, and currently the School of Rock opening is a bigger priority for him. |

He said it was the closest thing to how it was envisaged, a rock concert. He didn't say it's on again next year so if he was trying to shift tickets he was a bit sh*te!

Do you know the other productions theatremadness? Once upon a time, I had heard that Drew McOnie was going to be choreographing On The Town at Regent's Park to celebrate Leonard Bernstein, but I've not heard a peep about that since. Maybe it'll happen one day! As you say, not sure whether this counts as filling the Regent's Park musicals quota for next year, or whether there'll be a second. And welcome to the board!  |

Makes sense, tickets were like gold dust in the end, so this theatre can really cash in, no set to purchase.
Indicating by the length of 5 weeks this will be the main event of the year and the production that will close the 2017 season, the production that closes normally goes on a UK tour.
I would have loved Regents Park to do something different musically instead of a revival every year, perhaps do a new musical such as; Bridges of Madison County or Bright Star.

Yes Jon I agree with what you say here and have never known Regents Park to do a new musical. Just thinking it would be very cool if they did Bright Star and/or Bridges of Madison County as both scores are top notch and would actually work in the open air. More of a pipe dream though. |

They did say a couple of years back that they wanted to develop a new musical specifically for them. They did once before - Bashville - which didn't go that well. Interesting never knew that, always a danger of developing an new musical very expensive and you don't know how the press and public are going to respond. |

Exactly the reason they dont do it i imagine. Since they went away from Shakespeare under Sheader, they understandably tend to play safe.
