Doctor Faustus directed by Jamie Lloyd and starring Kit Harrington will open at the Duke of York's this April. Tickets on sale Tuesday.

Love the play - but not sure of that title casting... nothing I have seen him do would indicate he is ready for that role

My first post! Think this is a great play and have booked for the RSC version - I have no idea who this Kit person is so will wait for reviews before I decide to see it again.

I saw Harington in War Horse, and then Game of Thrones, so I'm not entirely confident at this time that I'll be able to take him at all seriously in the role. I'll certainly give it a try, though I'll be surprised if I love it half as much at the recent(ish) Globe production. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the cast!

Kit was the guest star when I saw 'The Vote' - but I had no idea who he was at the time and just was asking him rather earnestly about where I should put my ballot. He was pleasant but maybe a little surprised. I thought he was an attractive stage hand.

It's definitely intriguing. Casting Harington is quite a surprise, I hope he's not miscast because I'm finding it hard to picture him in the role, but maybe that's because he's so ingrained in my mind as Jon Snow. Nice to see that he's making a return to theatre though. I wonder who they'll get as Mephistopheles?

Foxa, you seem an educated woman of the world and if you are struggling then I am sure plenty who wouldn't know Game of Thrones if it bit them on the bottom will be too.
I just think these starry vehicles from Llloyd have been anything but. Branagh at the Garrick-starry, Nicole at the Noel Coward-starry, James McAvoy at the Trafalgar- Starry.
Gary Kemp, a supporting character in a online only series and gorgeous Kit-not starry.
Homecoming was not selling well, I am unsure about Maids (guessing a lot are hanging on for £15 Mondays?) and Kit may sell well but I am not sure people are as familiar with Dr Faustus-compared to Shakespeare, despite it being done all the time.

Personally I'd be surprised if this doesn't sell very well. I can completely see that his casting probably means nothing to many but to anyone who has seen Game of Thrones, this will be a massive pull - regardless of whether he is the right man for the role.

I was quite disappointed that it was Maria Aberg directing the RSC version, so this definitely appeals. Now to go and search to see if there are any cheap but decent ticket options.

Who is the dramaturg or adapter of the Jamie Lloyd show? To answer myself, I see that it's Colin Teevan, who has also written blackly comic new scenes. On the visual and magical aspect, we're promised dynamic stage illusions, hence the need for more than two weeks of previews. This sounds risky and fascinating! |

Booked a front row seat for the end of May through ATG, £35 seemed a reasonable enough price (not excited enough about seeing this to pay £60 upwards which is pretty much what every seat between there and the back row costs), I'm just hoping I don't get a cricked neck from sitting so close to the front.

I've gone front row too. I looked back over my records and it turns out I've only ever sat anywhere other than front stalls in this theatre once, and that was my second trip to Arcadia, so I thought it a shame to break with the habit, especially as I couldn't actually find any of these fabled £25 or £15 seats on the dates I was looking at. Just give me a damn good Mephistopheles, Jamie Lloyd. Don't let me down.
