If Harry reprises his role then they'll have one name already. Perfect fit of name for the shows target market, especially with the new movie coming out at the end of march. Mrs Higgins would be a great role for one of the great Dames, but I think Judi Dench and Maggie Smith or likely retired from stage work. Patricia Hodge would be ideal if she is free. Her role in All Creatures is small so she could be finished by May. Am I missing the bit where he became a household name? Not sure anyone knows who is outside of the theatre world

Can we direct to this the Race in Casting thread in General Chat now please? I don't mean to amateur moderate the thread but I can see what is going to happen and really want to discuss the show some more without us losing posts.

Looking at random dates I see a lot of the best seats are already gone. This must be presales and ENO members so might be worth booking as soon as general tickets go on sale if you have particular seats in mind.

Didn't you literally start this conversation on the previous page? The Race in Casting thread that was in General had to be closed for the usual reasons.
We are not having this thread derailed by the race/casting discussion. If someone wishes to start a new thread to discuss it in General then do so but fair warning, it will be closed if it descends into arguments and name calling.
Back to discussing the show.

Am I missing the bit where he became a household name? Not sure anyone knows who is outside of the theatre world He is more of ‘the guy from Downton and the Crown’ than a household name. But downtons massive fan base definitely know who he is, and also crossover to be the perfect market for my fair lady. A demographic with the kind of income to pay top price for the show and who will also like the show. The second movie is out just a couple of months before this opens You don't always need to be a massive name, and plenty of big names fail to set box office align. You just need a name with an audience who engage and will spend money on you. It's a case of right actor, right role and right show.

The 'direct from Broadway' approach worked for Kelli and Ken in The King and I so I see no reason why that wouldn't be the case for Harry here.
He's also great in the role so I'd be delighted to see him again.

I only saw the Downton film on Netflix last week and I still had no idea who this Harry was. Mind you, the whole thing was bland AF, my attention was wandering.
Even for early bookers the prices are eye watering for this. £80 for back of the stalls? For those who know the production are we going to see lavish sets and a huge cast? Wonderful costumes? In other words will I see my £ on that stage regardless of who is cast?

But it was at the rather intimate Beaumont theatre which is literally half the size of the Coliseum. So I’d imagine sitting far back/up, you will lose a lot.

I suspect they might end up using the touring set – does anyone know how that compares to the Broadway one?

I wouldn’t be surprised if those playing Mrs Higgins and Alfred Dolittle have already been secretly signed up. If they want those roles played by people with name value (and on Broadway Mrs Higgins was) leaving it till less than six months before risks many already being committed elsewhere.

I hate to break it to everyone , but this will be a cut down touring version. It’s going on tour straight after the Coliseum run.

Are you SURE though? 😟 Yes absolutely sure. They don’t have the room at the Coli to do what they did originally so it’s basically the US tour set

Can you elaborate on them not having room at the Coliseum?

They don’t have the room at the Coli With a seating capacity of 2,359, the London Coliseum houses the largest auditorium in the West End, hosting many spectacular productions on its huge 80ft wide stage. I also don't see the above comment when you know how big the Coliseum is.
