I wouldn’t get too excited.. the only interesting thing about this production was the huge set for Higgins study and they won’t be able to do that at the coliseum!
I assume this will be a touring version they will send on the road after.
Sheridan or Jenna Russell as Eliza? 🤣

Sheridan or Jenna Russell as Eliza? 🤣 You joke, but sometimes London casting director have no sense of humor. And not Lara Pulver or Laura Pitt Pulford, either. Sometimes I'm convinced they're the same person.

I'm not 100% sure that they won't cast Sheridan Smith in this tbh, although the idea is frankly horrifying

I agree with Mr B. I thought the production was fine but I'm surprised someone thought its good enough to travel accross the pond.
I should be more positive after months of gloomy theatre news

It's nothing new as a production - nice sets and the show is always enjoyable but that's about it.
I'm afraid the show was rather ruined for me by Laura Benanti's inability to do either a Cockney accent or more refined English accent, so I wouldn't mind seeing it with someone who can sing just as well as her but can get the accents right.

The only excuse I'll accept for Carly Bawden not being cast in this is if she's otherwise engaged in the West End with Romantics Anonymous.

Remember seeing Carly in Sheffield with Dominic West. An amazing performance in what is known as one of the most difficult female leads to sing.

Amazing news! Now anyone involved with casting.... please do NOT ask Katherine Jenkins. I beg you.
I feel like they’ll need a name for Eliza though - no idea if she can act, but Perrie Edwards from Little Mix has been posting videos of herself singing the score:
There was talk years ago of Anne Hathaway being cast in a new movie adaption, could she be tempted to the West End?

Martine was amazing when I saw her in it at the National. I was so pleased when she did my show which was a matinee too!! I remember an audible gasp when she appeared at the top of the staircase in all her finery!

I would love this to have 'names' for the older characters such as Higgins, Pickering, Doolittle, Mrs Higgins and Mrs Pearce but to give a couple of unknowns a chance as Eliza and Freddy. So many young performers who are wondering whether they'll have a profession to enter right now and it would be amazing to offer that chance out there for them

Jude Law maybe for Higgins?

I remember an audible gasp when she appeared at the top of the staircase in all her finery! Lucky you! Although Alex Jay was lovely anyway, it felt like the whole of the Lyttleton willing her to be magnificent as a big ‘f&ck you’ to MM when we saw it.

Give some new names a try and put some recognisable names in the smaller support roles!

A friend of mine who is a bit of an expert on the dame and said that she does not like to revisit previous roles but in 2022 she will be 84 so something she might just consider.

Controversially I loved the Broadway revival! I can see them putting a couple of names in this (easiest being Mrs Higgins and Alfred). I think Zoe Wannamaker could be a good Mrs Higgins. I'd like to see Harry as Henry again, and Gina Beck as Eliza.

Different works I know, but she did play Mrs. Higgins in 2011 in Pygmalion too. Looking through her list of credits I see she also played Eliza back in the day, so maybe she has a soft spot for this particular story?

I saw Carly Bawden in Sheffield too and she was amazing. Would love to see her take it on again. He might be a little young but Andrew Scott would be a wonderful Higgins.

I know it's called acting, and the Coliseum is a huge theatre, but Eliza is a flower GIRL aged 18 or 19; she is not a middle-aged flower woman aged 35 or 36!
