Was also there tonight. Having been twice before I was one of the people looking forward to seeing Ria! Indeed Glenn asked for 'understanding.' Whilst of course the acting was there as per, her voice was all over the place. Between the will she/won't she make the note and being constantly terrified that she was going to fall down the stairs, all made for uncomfortable viewing. That said, the audience went wild. That's what I was afraid of - I would have found that all very uncomfortable and unenjoyable to watch. It really was uncomfortable (for me). Seen her three times and she wasn't the strongest singer to start with but was definitely at her best in week 1. Week 2 was weaker, and last night was a plethora of missed notes and speak singing. Having said that my Dad loved it and thought "that was how it's meant to be sung." And the crowd went wild - they must be huge Glenn fans! |

These producers are low, exploiting a pensioner, falsing her to go on when she still unwell. (like it was really her wanting to come back....) I will probably report them to age concern as well as the asa now. Falsing? |

Not completely true. He has abs and pecs, he is in great shape. They are just enhanced for the stage

Anyone in last night with a report as to how GC was? She has a 2 show day today. I have booked to see the show again tonight after seeing Glenn in her first week. I have rebooked mainly for the orchestra - I will never hear the score played like this again in my lifetime.
It will be interesting to see how Glenn is in her 4th week in/out of the show. Althouhg I for one would not be disappointed if Ria was on to see the score actually sung and a different interpretation.

How can people go wild over a voice that is all over the place and misses all those notes? It must be embarrassing and uncomfortable to witness. I would ask for a refund or tickets for another day with someone who can sing it. |

I've been naughty - I just called up to check if there were any circle slips available for this weekend. I've got row A for Friday night. Either Glenn will be on and I'll get to see her after seeing Ria last week, or she won't be and I'll get to see Ria again. Either way I'm happy, and I get to hear the glorious orchestra again and see the show from a bit closer than last time.
Thanks to the people who recommended the slips. I found a photo on seatplan from the exact seat I've got - I'll miss the action that's further back on my side of the stage, but as a second visit I'm not particularly fussed about that, and certainly not when it only cost £55.

Far from embarrassing and uncomfortable. But I haven't been so don't know first hand. Might go next week - give her another Sunday off to hit the Lemsip and back to back episodes of 'Come Dine With Me'. |

Having seen this last Tuesday where it was slightly uncomfortable in places with the missed notes etc, I've got my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be more enjoyable! |

Maybe rather than insuring your tickets against your own illness, you should be able to insure them against the star not appearing. That would certainly draw people's attention to the fact the star may not be able to perform on the date they book.

That's not a bad idea - it'd give greater prominence to the possibility of the star's absence, and hopefully all those tiny insurance fees across the run would cover the eventuality that the star is off and some of the audience would rather cash in on their insurance. It could fall apart mightily if the star is off a LOT, but most are pretty reliable, right?

So, I saw Ria in this on Saturday. And she sang the hell out of that glorious score alongside that unctuous orchestra. The theatre was gorgeous and the audience around me were very well behaved with the ex epsilon of one *. But the script screams for the leading lady to act the hell out of Norma and sadly I found this side of her performance lacking. Having watched Glenn Close in various films over the years, it simply reinforced my disappointment that she was too unwell to perform.
Four days on I'm still gutted.

Just back from tonight's performance, and I barely have any words for how much I loved it.
I suspect Glenn Close isn't back to 100% yet (not holding the big note at the end of With One Look, for example), but boy, it really doesn't matter. She's still phenomenal, and acts the hell out of the role. Michael Xavier is also superlative as Joe (and wondrous in trunks too), and it was amazing to hear the score played to wonderfully by the huge orchestra.
Such a great night, and well worth the £12(!) I paid for a seat in the second row of the balcony. Might go again tomorrow...

Well Glenn was on tonight and completely mesmerising. It takes a star to play a star. If you are close you see every facial expression.
Her vocals were weak tonight, weaker than when I saw her two weeks ago but she is utterly captivating in the role. The audience were riveted throughout and went wild at the end.
The orchestra and company were sublime again.
