Him being shirtless and in tiny trunks was deeply inappropriate. It felt like he must have said "I want to get my body out".. NO Michael. Stop. It. ^ That was slightly crude, I thought. Fred picking it up and grossly walking away was pretty funny. But overall too much going on in the song.

Sunset Boulevard has been one of my all time favorites of ALW (tied up there with Aspects of Love, if anyone cares ) Really curious - Hampton and Black were said to have been "reworking" or "rewriting" things. Has anyone spotted any differences or changes? Also people referring to "Young Norma" is that just the final scene where they show a reel of her in a film?

loving the reviews from you all so far, wish I didn't have to wait until Friday when I am seeing it. Just a quick question - how much are the prints selling for?

Sounds like they were limited edition of 100 so can't see there being any left by next weekend. Any other her merch on offer? What's the programme like?

prints are for 10£, 40£ if signed, 50£ signed and framed.
No, Young Norma appears in "New Ways to Dream", "The Perfect Year", Max's "surrender" reprise and possibly something else I can't remember.

Link to the 1993 BBC Omnibus documentary about Sunset Boulevard, which contains extensive clips from Glenn Close in the 1993 LA production.

I'm reserving full judgment until my second helping tonight, but it sounds terrific, Glen Close smashed the big numbers, I thought Michael's take on Joe was a little too nice and needs more bite and cynicism. The only problem I have is the big theatre, the big Orchestra, and the big star all make me long for the 'big' original set. Yes this set is very clever and the lighting and construction has plenty of nods to the original, but it just seems the weak link. I didn't expect to be saying that either. I really liked the montage towards the end when Betty is driving up to Sunset. In response to the question about the programme, I only saw and bought a small one, a touch smaller than A4 and £5 it's pretty much your standard programme. No big souvenir ones yet as I could see.

That's all the lyrical changes. But did anyone notice that there were a couple of parts where they'd be incidental music that was removed? The only one I remember at the top of my mind is the scene when Joe comes back after Artie's NYE party. Normally they'd be the "Perfect Year" motif, but it only chimes in close to the moment when Joe walks over to the couch. Young Norma in this production is a younger redhead actress dressed in 20s attire with a headband. The final scene when they (Normally) show the young Norma is now replaced with "The End".

How is the ending in this version? Are they using the end of With One Look as normal? How have they staged that bit?

Yes. The score/book are unchanged. It's staged with Norma coming down the staircase. Max is a little more "involved" as he directs. She comes down to centre stage, the scrums come down and The End is written behind her on the last note of "I'll be me".

OK all these reports are making me develop a nervous twitch due to the fact that I haven't got a ticket for this...yet! I think I could stretch to the £45 mark....that C56 seat in the Upper Circle (that I've been reading about on the ever-so-helpful theatremonkey website) - it says it's 100% clear in front which is good for my height, does anyone know from experience/knowledge how the view is?? Thanks in advance!

Reading lots online about the huge standing ovation before Glenn even finished the last line of the show... sounds like she should be expecting raves for this!
Also, by the looks of it she will not be doing stage door signings as she wants to go home and rest... which I can't blame her as she sounds pretty tired in this.

Do they use the reprise of 'Lets have Lunch' or 'Every Movie's A Circus' ? Every Movie... is awful.
What is in the licensed version?
