ALW will stream one of his musicals every week, starting with Joseph, tonight at 7pm. Apparently he will be showing By Jeeves at some point. I hope he also does Song and Dance one week too!

Oh my God, I would LOVE him to do Song and Dance (assume you mean the Sarah Brightman version). Seen Joseph and By Jeeves many times as have the DVDs, but Song and Dance was never released on DVD and I never managed to get my hands on the VHS. Was too young to have seen the Palace version when it was on though did see revival at The Shaftesbury. Anyway, delighted ALW is doing this gesture though is just stuff already on DVD thus far. What would be amazing would be to see some archive stuff of actual shows in the theatres. Prince Of Wales Aspects and Adelphi Sunset, I am looking at you..... (Will never happen but can dream!)

I only ever saw it released on laser disc here in the UK! Did anyone actually buy a laser disc player?? I didn't know By Jeeves was released on dvd. I keep an eye out for it. I'm looking forward to the recent JCS tour too, with Mel C and Tim Minchin.

Yup after they did the straight to DVD Cats, Joseph and JCS, By Jeeves (recorded in America) was also released. Was with somewhat less of a fanfare though and unlike the other three never made it to Blu-Ray. (Probably no great loss as the transfers of the former three to Blu-Ray were very poor with minimal quality difference from the DVD. In fact amazingly they managed to make parts of Joseph worse!)

Wouldn't it be truly innovative if ALW shared archive recordings and workshops? Interesting yo see the success if theatre migrating to YouTube - "One man, two guvnors" 1.1m views... There's a market for theatre content beyond the box office.

There's a market for theatre content beyond the box office. I think realistically, it's going to be stuff that's already been recorded and of good quality like Joseph, Jeeves and The Phantom 25th at the RAH. There's too many costs and legal issues to release the archives and workshops. I wonder if the 1997 Cats will be shown since Universal have the recent film version out and probably want to make some money.

Realistically 1.1 million for One Man is off the back of Corden, remember its only 4 months or so since 17 million people watched Gavin & Stacy. Will be very surprised if the other streams get anywhere near that unless they can pull out something with a Cumberbatch or such like.

Yesterday I posted a link to the full show on youtube (Sarah Brightman version, Palace theatre, it's on there), but my post was removed? Can someone explain to me why? Or was there a technical malfunction of the forum?

More than likely because it isn’t currently available on digital platforms, therefore a copyrighted product of yesteryear, much like the original Marti Webb tv ‘special’ of ‘Tell Me On A Sunday’.

Oh ok, thank you! I didn't know the forum was so strict. It's not like a bootleg or anything, it was publicly released long ago and it has been on youtube for over 7 years. In any case, for anyone interested (Dom and tbfl), you know where to look

The channel the video was on isn't an official one so we have to work on the basis that it’s been put there without permission of the copyright owner.

The (illegitimate) copy of Song & Dance on YouTube is a very low quality transfer, and I'd love to see a better one, so I really hope Sir Andrew has that up his sleeve.

I managed to track down the Japanese laser disc and had it converted to digital which is an OK-ish transfer however the Japanese subtitles are imbedded on it. The Laserdisc was only available in Japan, it was simply VHS for Europe as I recall. But I too look forward to the day Song & Dance 1984 sees the light of day with a digital re-master. Come to think of it, a full revival of Song & Dance would be more than welcome. As much as I love Tell Me On A Sunday, I always feel short changed the dance section never follows.

Meanwhile, in 23 hours, JCS has hit 1.2M views. But, the bigger question is (no, not what was Laurence Connor ingestging or thinking when he staged the show as he did) but what will be on the channel next Friday? ALW promised "By Jeeves" at tomse point in time, but I'm thinking it might be Cats.

JCS seems to be done as a real sensory overload these days. I'd love to see a small scale, intimate and human version, just all about the actors and not technology.

Assuming the proshot Cats is going to appear at some point. At least after that and Phantom, that's all of the 'already available' performances covered and we might then start getting some rarer stuff. While I get that they want to appeal to the masses, they must know that a lot of us have already seen these mainstream recordings numerous times. Having said that, if they captured Hannah Waddingham and Danielle Hope in Oz, I will be very happy. Or anything Sunset-related.
