Why do they open booking for all of the shows in the season on the same day?

Why do they open booking for all of the shows in the season on the same day? It's not that unusual. Most theatres do it.

I know but in terms of their customer experience it’s a really stupid idea. How many people see that they’re (supposedly) 2000th a queue and just sack it off?

Booked for this and Streetcar. As others have said, decent availability. Booked my usual £10 cheap seats! What do you consider the good £10 seats? I’ve always found the restricted views a bit annoying at the Almeida I went for the upper left of the circle as you look at the seat plan (so upper right when facing the stage). Not the ones all the way round to the side, but I’ve sat in them before and they weren’t that bad. There are slight restrictions on what you can see but compared to restricted view seats you get in lots of West End theatres, it’s nothing. For me it’s certainly worth it for the price!

Managed to get a partial view stalls for the final performance. Hopefully not too restricted! :-)

Started out 4600 and something in the queue and managed to get an end of aisle £25 ticket! Still pretty good availability considering the time I spent in the queue.

Just got my ticket now for the end of November! Was on the night shift last night and was surprised when I woke up there was any for this run left.
Hopefully its good or I'm going to spend a couple months hearing about how awful it is before I go... Great chance to see some really great talent on stage though.

There's no queue now and good availability in November. I've made a second booking for 30 November ; a £10 restricted view seat in row H stalls, just one in from a £50 seat.
Seems a huge price difference on adjacent seats so hopefully not too restricted.

I always try to see new shows within the first few days but due to medical reasons I am unable to go until very late in the run so (slightly to my advantage) have been able to get a couple of good stalls seats. The wait will be very frustrating though.

Does anyone know if Andrew Randalls is scheduled to perform at all shows? I'm hoping yes as it's a short run. answering my own question. Box office have advised that the cast are due to perform at all performances unless there is an emergency (no understudies)

A lot of the smaller theatres do the same as its financially not viable to pay for understudies.

And they will have understudies when it come to town. Not uncommon when it’s a new show to not have understudies at the beginning of the run as so many things are changing. I am sure they will look to add some swings once they get going but at this stage they are likely focussed on getting it in its feet. This is a horrible idea. They'd rather cancel than have understudies. (I believe) The Menier did the same thing as does Southwalk Playhouse on occasion.

Booked tickets for this with no problem, albeit in the circle. Something to look forward to, especially if Bunny Christie is designing the set!

So it looks like I was right - everyone on here who wanted tickets got them?
Should have held my nerve on that membership!
(Oh well, had enough cheap seats at the Almeida over the years not to begrudge chucking them some extra money really…..)

Yes but you probably got a better seat with your membership than if you waited until today and its a good theatre to support.

And maybe they’ll have something else on later in the year I want to book for (not bothered about another Streetcar).

I wonder how many in the queue had more than one device joining? That was the old trick - set 2 or 3 devices to join in the hope that one will get a lucky low queue place, and then close the others out. I would guess that many people savvy enough to be getting in the queue for public on-sale are experienced queuers who know the tricks.

I was just sat at my desk at work so between browsers and my PC/phone probably had three places in the queue before settling for the best-placed one. For a recent Old Vic on sale I tried two devices and got in much quicker using the second device which joined the queue later. The Almeida did at least seem to assign places in chronological order.
