Saw this again tonight. The biggest difference from the first performance was the increased use of projections onto the back wall of the set throughout the show. It now feels much more multi media. There is now a projection of the year we start in and that then rolls back as we go to the start of Tammy's story. Much more use of live filming projection too and it's improves the scenes as we can see what they were seeing at home on the tv. The new projections make it much more colourful and uplifting too. They have cut some verses from Prime Time and Bring Me The Face of Tammy Faye and some staging changes in the second half (i think) that that try to focus parts of the story. I thought Andrew Rannells had vastly improved since i first saw him. He was't quite so 'Andrew Rannells' and it feels like his character has more emotional moments in Act 2. Tammy's make up is now bigger than it was towards the end of the show.
Prime Time is still an odd number and I feel it should be like the Act 2 opening of Dreamgirls, where they cover a few years of the story, so Tammy Faye could go from starting out on her own, getting success with her sininging career and albums, her style changing and the make up getting heavier, along with her pill addiction, so by the end of the number we have a better understanding of where she is in her live.
There have been some changes to the bows, but they're still messy. Now it's introduced as Tammy Fayes's Reunion concert. Whilst she is singing people still come forward and interact with her, but The problem was that it feels like they are coming forward as the character at the reunion concert, rather than the actor at the end of the show. Its too laid back and if you want to get applause, maybe get the characters/actors to bow. No one applauded athose moments tonight and as much as I dislike a clap along finale, it should be final line, blackout, bows and then the final song.
It's still a great show and hopw we get an official OLCR soon.

completely separately to the discussion above - if they want to retain all the original company i doubt the transfer will be soon given other cast commitments.

Some posts and posts which quote them have been removed/edited. This was getting into quite detailed discussion about an actor’s personal life and an unconfirmed rumour. Can we steer away from that moving forward please.

Disney + It's called the Eyes of Tammy Faye Thanks. Don't have Disney+ hopefully Netflix or Amazon might get it at some time. It will likely stay on Disney+ because it was made by (the studio formerly known as) Fox who Disney now own. Your best bet would be to do (something very old-fashioned that I like doing) rent the DVD from your local library, or see if it pops up at the charity shop. Otherwise, you'll just have to keep an eye when it has it's TV premiere which will probably be at least another 18 months.

I so wanted to love this but ended up just admiring. Maybe it is the subject matter or the style of the music, but I just did not connect with the material on an emotional level. Might also not have helped to watch the 2021 movie (which gives a more cohesive account IMO) shortly before. 4 stars for me (3.5 for the show itself in its current form, 5 for the fantastic cast).
(As others have noted, I also had ‘Take Me To Heaven’ from Sister Act in my ears after leaving the show.)

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it, but I agree with various posters that it's not quite top tier. The music is incredibly enjoyable whilst it's happening, but entirely forgettable afterwards. In hindsight I do wonder how much the orchestrations and performers (Kate Brayben especially) are elevating the musical material.
The book is brilliant, witty and clever, as is the choreography and staging (including the use of projections). All in all it's an excellent 3 hours of theatre, but it needs some work if it's going to be a "classic".

I liked this, didn't love it. Kate's performance is absolutely excellent and next level. I would really like to hear a cast recording to check out the songs again.

Well I just thought this was terrific. Was very lucky as we had front row and centre seats.
I guess it wouldn’t be Theatreboard if there weren’t full discussion and I did look out for some things I’d read here.
I would love to listen to a soundtrack (guess not available yet). I thought the cast was faultless (minus one or two accents). Such energy and I loved the songs. No, I wasn’t instantly humming them, but that’s fine. I wasn’t moved that much but that was also fine. Katie Brayben was stellar.

Did anyone watching Andor (best Star Wars related series and easily one of the best tv shows of the year!) catch Zubin Varla in it? Last seen on the back of a Stormtrooper...

Hello all
I was desperate to see this and glad I bagged a returned ticket a few weeks ago as I'd missed out when booking opening.
Unfortunately now due to the train strike I can't make it for the show.
I have returned my ticket for 7.30pm tomorrow (Fri 25 Nov) to the box office just now so it is going to be put on sale for anyone looking for a ticket. It was £55.
Hope someone can enjoy the show. I'm crossing my fingers for a transfer now!

as if I got to the box office an hour earlier just to secure a good seat for this evening, and it turns out that all tickets issued are just general admission 😭 will be back to queue again for a while just to be close-up, but it should be worth it ¡!!

all tickets issued are just general admission as in it's the same price for all tickets and they just put you where there's space?

I have a seat number on my ticket and I’ll be very angry if I don’t get my seat that I booked. Where does it say it’s general admission? sorry just seen this is for the free show

all tickets issued are just general admission as in it's the same price for all tickets and they just put you where there's space? well it was free for everyone under 25.. it’s just that they said the box office opened 4hrs before 7 for ticket collection (not able to book beforehand online). And so I queued before 3pm expecting to collect my ticket and confirm which seat I was after. Was told it was general admission so just planned to hang around the theatre until doors just to secure front row (successful !!) ++ Such an incredible and immersive show, please give Katie all of the awards and praise. Still trying to process everything

My friend and I are planning to have a go at the returns queue on Monday after work. Has anyone had any luck with it? I'm not sure what time they start selling to the queue rather than online but I presume you just get offered tickets as they come up at their original price point and can accept/decline as you want? I'll probably be able to get there for about 5:30 as I work around Holborn so hopefully that will be early enough...
Any insight gratefully received!

They seem to be strongly encouraging people to join the returns queue so it seems fairly likely you'll get tickets (I certainly assume you can decline based on price, that's been my experience in any other returns queue I've joined):

I haven't used the returns queue, but I do wonder if you have high chance from no-shows as the performance is about to start. They have zero admittance of late-comers and when I was there two people were brought into seats right in front of me as the doors were closed. They may have just been late but they seemed very happy!
