Not sure about the 'catifying' - it looks like they've done it by using a 'stick your face on a cat's body' filter (a bit like the 'see what you look like as an old person' filter that's currently doing the rounds). The actors' faces are too recognisable, so it looks freaky. Jennifer Hudson looks downright scary!

Hmm, interesting, can't imagine I'll go and watch it in the cinema. I mean the thing that stuck out for me the most is that the sizes of the cats don't seem quite right in Trafalgar Square compared to the rest of the stuff in the trailer, I'd better not watch it if that's what I've taken from the trailer. (Never been a Cats fan though, was just a little curious). For me, it looked like the sizing/scale of them is off for most of it, sometimes they look small, other times larger, it's something that bothered me too. It just looks awful visually, they all look terrifying, not that cat like to justify the CGI, why not just have them in costume? Some things are made just for the stage, not the screen, here seems to be a perfect example. Who asked for this?

I think it looks really interesting and I’ve never been a fan of Cats. It looks really well shot and directed. The CGI I think is actually very well done. It just looks weird because you are seeing these famous faces but as a cat. Seeing humanoid cats running around in a movie is weird and it does throw you off but to compare it to PS2 graphics I think is very harsh. But the way they have kept the essence of how the cats are depicted in the stage show and also made sure everyone is still recognisable works really well. I think in terms of adapting this show as a movie this is the best route to take.

Ugh. Not for me. As for 'Memory', let's just say I cringed.

I was never going to see this since they cast Corden, but wow, that rodent scaling. Although, I'm there for the reworking of the score to remove some of that dated DX7 synthiness. Bit of luck this will kill Hollywood musical stunt-casting and then we'll get some real vocal talent for Wicked.

Wow.

Cats without Lynne's choreography just isn't Cats. Didn't work for the last Broadway revival, I don't understand why they think it will work now.

and yet this, an equally odd idea, worked so brilliantly nearly fifty years ago, and is still utterly charming and gorgeous and probably the nearest in spirit to Potter that we will ever see.

Looks genuinely terrifying. I think it's all down to the shadows. They don't seem to be harsh enough so it looks like they're floating because there's no shadows under their chins most of the time. And other times it seems like their faces aren't centered or are not proportional to their bodies. It's just such a strange choice.

Very disappointed with the trailer. The CGI is horrible- how much did they spend to make it look like that? I didn’t mind J Hudson’s version of ‘Memory.’

Jesus stop complaining! I think it looks promising with a new take on the piece and I am willing to give it a chance.

I hated Cats on stage. Thought it was the biggest load of nonsense I'd ever seen. All that prancing around. I'm certainly no fan...
Yet, I think this trailer is brilliant. It looks fantastic, feels and sounds updated, and actually makes me want to go and see it.
It's Cats. It'll sell by the bucketload. A $500m box office success looms.

There is still a few months to refine the CGI, remember how horrible the Genie looked in the first Aladdin teaser?

I think the art direction is just plain weird. Neither one thing or another. The scale is wrong. And poor Judi looks like she has a disease.
I note the added dialogue, which might bolster the exposition, but geez it's odd to look at!

Its crazy the way people seem to be overreacting to this. I think most of the complainers will still be in the theaters. This is a fresh, modern, creative way on one of the most known "properties" around the world (remember this is an international blockbuster of a musical). The cast alone, the known score will be a draw. I think the finished product will be at the very least interesting. As a non-Cats fan, I'm excited to see this (and hear it, the orchestrations and all have got me pumped)

Flurries meets gremlins
what is going on with the scale of objects and surroundings to moggies?
I hated the stage show so my expectations were low but how low can this film go?
Good to see the same old logo is trotted out again, ALW must of saved a fortune

This reaction video cracks me up -
Also the trailer on movieclips trailers channel has 22 thousand downvotes to 11 thousand upvotes
Will it make bucket loads of money? Sure. Will it make a profit? Eh...
I said this once and I’ll say it again, they should have done an animated film. In fact there were plans to do so. Appaently there’s character designs out there
