Pray it happens this year, certainly a show we could all do with right now.

Just had an email saying this is postponed again Dear Friend, It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of our Autumn production, Something Rotten! The continued challenges of COVID-19, with extremely large casts and international travel, has forced further delays. We are working hard to confirm new performance dates and times for this show and we will be in touch with ticket options soon. Whilst we understand the disappointment this will no doubt cause, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support regarding show postponements and look forward to welcoming you to The REP to experience this show. The team at Birmingham Repertory Theatre

Such a shame, this is high on my list to see. Hope they can make it happen in easier times.

The Rep sent an email out yesterday confirming that they still intend on running this next year, and negotiations are ongoing. Great news!

What a shame. I enjoyed this on Broadway and hoped to see it in the UK some time. Not sure if they feel like '& Juliet' has cornered the market in Shakesperian musicals (although they are very different shows, some of the humour is similar)

Gutted that SR isn't going ahead this year. It was a fun watch on Broadway. Rather than taking a refund, I've just swapped it for a ticket for Bugsy Malone.

I suspect it will be released for the amateur market. And do pretty well that way

Have the REP given a reason why this isn’t happening?
I have just looked at their website and nothing there fills me with joy. I would rather they do something bold as Something Rotten as their Xmas show rather than Nativity the Musical, which as mildly enjoyable the only time I saw it, but is also a musical I need not to see again - it has also been done to death.

Something Rotten would be something that would work quite well at either the Open Air or the Globe. I'd suggest the RSC but I doubt they'd stage it.

You take that back, I need my Sparkle and Shine!! I am disappointed it has been dropped too, they should do both!

I had tkts booked when it was due to be on before Covid scuppered us. I was looking today and SeatPlan mentioned it rumoured for Birmingham Rep for 2024 but I've not seen anything else reported. Anyone have any thoughts on whether it's likely to be on? It is definitely one of my bucket list musicals at the moment!

I’d love to see this go ahead, and with July, August and September currently showing with nothing on in the main house it could be possible. However with the recent news of Birmingham City Council’s funding cuts it might be a bit of a challenge for them to get another new musical up this year with Bhangra Nation currently running and Becoming Nancy in October. But hopefully I could be wrong!

As something that has already been some level of hit in the US it must have commercial potential so they might find commercial coproducers to put money in so perhaps having less public money makes it more likely?

Possibly could be! I think it was Jamie Wilson who was going to co-produce it originally.
