Wouldn’t be surprised if some of us may have events booked for 2021 but 2022!

Could be great. I'm more interested in what he's doing before that. He is doing his own 'Children of Nora' 'after Ibsen' at the ITA in Amsterdam in April. We have the Helen Mirren/Mark Strong Oedipus in London in the autumn. Anyone know what else he's doing? Stuttgart, Basel and Amsterdam seem to be the places he's doing work. I'd love to see the Barbican get some of his stuff over here.

Bet Boxer will remain on stage, chewing hay thoughtfully, throughout the interval. Autograph opportunity!

The Doctor is transferring to Broadway this fall with Juliet (confirmed by her). So I imagine that will keep him busy.

This is coming to Bath next March for a week. Is it completely new? I know he's done 1984. I'm glad to see he's still directing stuff in this country and not gone for the lucrative international circuit (though I'm sure he does a bit of that too). I'm quite excited by this - my children are mid-teens, just the right age.

Here are his recent credits. Mostly international. No idea if they’re lucrative. roberticke.com/mobile.htmlHis current New York production is Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People”

I suspect it would have been a pass from me, but with it being produced by the Children's Theatre Partnership I'm probably not the target market anyway!

So there are going to be two Animal Farms debuting next year? The James Graham one and the Robert Icke one?
Golly. Trotters at dawn!

I didn't mean my 'lucrative' up there to sound snide by the way. I think artists should be well paid. I imagine you get a lot better paid for a few weeks' work at the Schaubuehne or in Basle than you do at the Almeida. I would be genuinely interested to know what the rates are....

So would I (hence I said I didn't know). Revealing how much you're paid is the last taboo in UK, some actors will offer up information on every facet of their lives - their family, their love life, their medical conditions, their political views - but never how much they get paid. Interestingly this is not the case in some other countries. To me Icke's credits suggest he really is on an informal international circuit that includes European festivals and theatres - following in the footsteps of Katie Mitchell.

I'm reviewing this at the Cambridge Arts Theatre on 8th February, I may get an extra ticket but I won't know until nearer the time. Drop me a message if you think you may be able to use it and I'll see if I can get it confirmed 😀

Interesting. I note it says elsewhere on their website: "Robert Icke, the great talent of British theatre, will be our resident director for the next few years." British theatre's loss. Also their programme looks more interesting than anything Rufus Norris has come up with.

On the other hand: what a nice excuse to have to travel to Amsterdam every now and then! :)

Doubt many in the industry will mourn his absence... Except audiences of course. Hence the "in the industry" - his shows were always strong sellers. feel as though Rebecca Frecknall may have gazumped him now though
