So this is the transfer of the Theatre Royal Bath (Ustinov Studio) version from last summer? Hooray, because I wanted to see it but couldn't fit in a trip and besides, you never know with their productions which may idc transfer to London.

I'm glad this is transferring, I really enjoyed it last year. Probably one of those shows people will either love or hate though. Shame that Mark Hadfield and Lewis Reeves don't appear to be transferring with it.

I saw it many years ago on Broadway starring my all-time favourite David Hyde Pierce. All I remember is DHP being wonderful and an actresses doing an excellent Maggie Smith impression. I hope the latter makes it into the London show.

Bizarre news. Saw it in Bath and found it only mildly entertaining. Not funny enough, not dramatic enough, not anything enough. One of those bland middle-brow American plays that still seem to be inexplicably popular over there.

Would anyone know if tickets for this might be discounted at any point? From the dates that I've seen, there seems to be amazing availability for all dates but was just curious. I wonder how well the Climate change festival discussions and talks will go since they're all taking place during working hours Mon-Fri...

Was looking at this and availability was over 70% for the dates I looked at earlier in the week.
A pragmatic view, not selling well without the impact of Covid-19 and therefore little chance of an upturn once open, for the producers better to cut their losses but it must be galling for the actors as they are unlikely to be on a retainer.
Being an Actor or working in Theatre is precarious at the best of times and now with the jobs taken when ‘resting’ likely to diminish there will be tough times ahead.

You can still book for this at the moment on the Charing Cross Theatre website.
13 tickets appear to have been sold for the first performance, six for the second and three for the third.

After an 18-month delay (for obvious reasons...), rehearsals have finally resumed this week for our upcoming production of Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning comedy play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which will have a limited run at Charing Cross Theatre from 5 November. The production is directed by Walter Bobbie (Tony Award-winner for Chicago), and we are thrilled to announce that the full cast is now confirmed!
The cast is led by 2-time Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee (Follies - National Theatre) and Michael Maloney (The Crown). They are joined by Rebecca Lacey, Charlie Maher, Lukwesa Mwamba and Sara Powell.

This was fun.
I’m sure if you’re more familiar with Chekhov there may have been a few more laughs to gain but there was a fair few for me who’s only seen The Cherry Orchard. It is mostly light hearted except for a fairly serious monologue in the second act.
Particularly liked Janie Dee and Rebecca Lacey. And Charlie Maher has certainly got the body to be spending a considerable amount of the play stood in just his boxers.
The theatre is back to end on for this show and it’s a nice little set. A little bit of stumbling over some lines but that’s to be expected at an early preview I guess.
Runtime approx 2hrs 20 with interval.
