Tom Rhys Harries is a very young Trigorin! Younger than Nina here! Nina is 19 - it's in the text - the actress playing her is 33. From the internal evidence of the text Trigorin is normally played as around 40, the actor here is 27. Konstantin is around Nina's age in the text, the actor here is 28. Well, they are actors so can play different ages, but it raises a few problems. One is that it is a key point that Konstantin regards Trigorin as an old-fashioned worn-out establishment writer. Another is that with Nina - like in Romeo and Juliet - if the actor is too old the suspension of disbelief over the character's actions becomes difficult. |

I think one of the reasons why the recent West End 'Foxfinder' didn't work is the age of the cast - a clearly thirty-something actor as the teenaged zealot and an actress younger than him as the middle-aged farmer. I thought Tom Rhys Harries was very good in Pitchfork Disney a couple of years ago, but he was playing a glamorous teenager (I think). |

Just a confirmation on day seats gone up on the keyworkers booking page.
Yes! £15 day seats (front row stalls) will be available for every performance after Press Night (19th March onwards) – and these have no specific eligibility criteria. They’ll be bookable exclusively in person (at the Playhouse Theatre Box Office) from 10am on the day you want to attend. Limit of x2 tickets per person, tickets sold on a first come, first served basis and subject to availability. Tickets will be released at the discretion of the Box Office.

Just got a £15 ticket - love Indira Varma and Emilia Clark, so I'm kinda sold by that. Less enthused by Jamie Lloyd but I'm willing to give one of his shows a go...

Not sure how many tickets were on sale in total but only seemed to be a few hundred in the queue, quite easy to get tickets I thought.

Say what you like about the man, but you can't deny his company has got some great schemes in place to help those who can't get into the arts easily!

It is great that they are offering cheap thickets for some categories but the rest of us are then charged a HUGE amount for a decent seat which is why I really don't like this company. Prices for the wider public are so high, it is crazy (and over £60 for a restricted view seat in the circle!)

Some mid-week tickets discounted on TodayTix as part of London Theater Week - row J of dress circle for £45 (down from £67). Not a great deal but better than nothing I guess!

I wish I'd seen the £15 seats post before booking. I booked L5&6 at the stalls for £62.5 each. In quite hyped to see Emilia Clarke and wanted to get a good look of her from the stalls, so I don't regret it. Hope the play itself is worth it as well!

Saw the first preview this eve..Never seen it before and would think this can be viewed as very bold or an amboination..Lloyd has made good use of the previous c d b set ..turning it around for a more chip board effect...For a first night the cast seemed spot on...I think this will be a marmite version...But for me as someone new to the piece it was certainly food for thought and it tasted pretty good..

It has now ended sadly, and I know things are seriously tough for producers right now, but I'm still surprised to see nothing about this closure on the Jamie Lloyd Company twitter. Is there at least a chance it may return?

I got an email about a credit voucher but no details on rescheduling, whereas other shows have said they are, or are trying to, find new dates.
Nothing yet about A Doll's House at all so maybe it's just a Jamie Lloyd company thing...must be difficult to get that cast back together anytime soon.

We got an email saying that they are in contact with producers about new dates. I think it’s probably just a stalling tactic. We’ve already filled out the form requesting a refund.

I finally got my refund processed today and also got the message about rescheduling...
That’s interesting. I’m not going to pause my refund request as I’m glad it finally got through but I’m inclined to book again if they do reschedule it. I really wanted to see this. Although I don’t see how this is going to work. I’ve got tickets for A Doll‘s House at the beginning of July. I’m expecting these to get cancelled as well...
