IF this show opens, it will only be with Atkins and Chalamet. They won’t open it with an understudy in either role.
Let’s hope it goes ahead.

They might not open with an understudy, but surely it's possible they could get another "star" to replace Atkins. They won’t have enough rehearsal time. The more I think about it, the more it seems inconceivable this will open at all. Eileen A is 84 and will have to go into months of self isolation. There’s no way she could do this play now.

I wasn't necessarily thinking of it sticking to the same dates - it could potentially be postponed and they might still need to replace a quarantined Atkins.

The chances of Chamalet being available with his film career anytime soon is pretty unlikely. But who knows what will happen. Let’s hope things turn out better than expected and this opens!!

It's hard to know what'll happen though because film production is similarly delayed so where will everything pick up from once we get past the worst of all of this?

Email tonight confirming they are closing and 4000 miles is postponed, but they aim to reschedule and will honour people's bookings for the new dates. (very long email but that's the main gist!)

Here at The Old Vic we promise to do everything possible to maintain some kind of meaningful connection with our audiences during this time and, with the help of our extraordinary staff, supporters and artists, I know that we’ll be back, as strong and feisty as ever, before too long. There’s a stunning poem, by Rumi, in the middle of 4000 Miles: ‘Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about’ Let’s all focus on coming through this separation with our togetherness intact. Even strengthened. Take care of yourselves and each other. Be creative. There’s going to be some great theatre on the other side. I’ll meet you there. Matthew Warchus
Artistic Director

Very glad they’re still hopeful it’s just a postponement rather than a cancellation, because I was really excited about seeing it. Definitely the right decision to close temporarily though.

I booked through TodayTix and got an email from them about a month ago (i’m very far behind on sorting out my tickets lol) saying this:
“We’re reaching out about your tickets for a show that may be impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The Society of London Theatres has confirmed all theatres in London and across the UK are set to remain closed until 31 May, 2020.
If you have booked for a show which has now been cancelled, or becomes cancelled, there is no need for you to contact us. You will receive a special voucher code via email up to 10 days following your show’s performance date. This TodayTix voucher will be valued at 110% of your original purchase. This voucher code will be valid for one year.
Once it’s safe, theatres will reopen and the show will go on. There are so many people that make theatre going unforgettable — from the actors to the producers to the ushers and more — it truly takes a village to bring every show to life night after night.
As a TodayTix customer, we know you believe in the power of theatre as much as we do and we can’t wait to see you again when the curtains rise.
If you have any questions please visit our FAQ page.
Thanks for your patience. The TodayTix Guest Service Team”
I’m probably being dense, but does this mean that my ticket won’t be transferred or anything like that? Because I honestly would rather it was, instead of running the risk of not getting a ticket when this show returns.

People that booked direct through the Old Vic are being transferred to new dates but this implies people who booked through agencies aren't. I'd drop them an email to check.

It was such a stress trying to get a ticket for this in the first place! I’ll send them an email to check. Thanks!

Does anyone know what's happening with this play?
I haven't heard anything regarding my booking. Is it worth hanging on to my ticket or should I try to get a refund?

Does anyone know what's happening with this play? I haven't heard anything regarding my booking. Is it worth hanging on to my ticket or should I try to get a refund? From OV website: We are still working hard to reschedule 4000 Miles and, whilst there is no confirmed date for the run, it won’t play before Summer 2022. It is still very much our desire to bring this production to our stage. Your booking is safe and you do not need to take any action. We want to thank you for your patience.

Guess they are having to get Timothee and Eileen's schedules to line up.
Be glad to one day get to see it though!

In the scheme of things Summer 2022 isn’t far away. Theatre was meant to be gone for only 3 weeks.
Is this the Mark Knopfler musical?

Dame Eileen on the Jay Rayner podcast last week saying she's ready to do this ("well I've learnt it") but added "we'll see". She was also full of praise for Mr Chalamet.

Now that Into the Woods isn’t happening, there’s a perfect gap for this to squeeze in between Chalamet finishing ‘Wonka’ and starting ‘Dune: Part Two’

Has anyone successfully claimed a refund for 4000 Miles tickets? There used be a page on the Old Vic site saying they were still trying to reschedule, but I can't find any more recent information. Given that Chalamet is so much in demand for film work, the 'moment' for this production seems to have passed and I don't believe it will ever happen with the original cast.

Yes, I received my refund in 2020 when I decided not to hold on. Just contact the box office

If Timothée Chalamet is still attached the Old Vic could probably refund all the tickets and sell them for twice as much tbh...
