Edit: Yes, I'm blind, zahidf posted the end date. Sorry, I lost several braincells over the possibility to see Timmy Chalamet live on stage.

The play seems often to be described as 'warm', which is a scare-word for me. The lead character is described as 'feisty', which is another one. Impressed with Warchus' casting, though.

I saw it at Lincoln Center and it's a very fine play and this is a SUPERB cast ! Chalamet a smart choice for a role that the wonderful Gabriel Ebert nailed Off Broadway.

What do we reckon the risks of this selling out very quick are? It's not on for long and Chalamet is likely to be a decent draw. This'll be on for my mum's birthday and she is a big fan of his, as am I, so I definitely want to go and I'm just wondering how on top of things I'll have to be.

I saw this at the old Print Room Theatre in Notting Hill in 2013 (it transferred from the Ustinov in Bath) - with Sara Kestelman in the role which is now going to be played by Eileen Atkins. I rather enjoyed it even if the ending, rather like Herzog's Belleville, didn't quite work for me - and it has two meaty central characters which will be a good fit for the Old Vic actors. I recall it feeling a rather intimate play so will be interested to see how it plays in a much larger house - though I had similar concerns about Lungs which turned out to be unfounded.

Interesting that it's announced now - I've just heard a piece on the radio about people increasingly going in for live 'experiences' (gigs, festivals, theatre) rather than spending money on material stuff, and they had someone on saying their kids had asked for gig tickets for concerts next year rather than physical gifts for Christmas. The Old Vic is kind of like a stadium gig, so maybe this will be the theatre equivalent of trying to get a Teletubby doll/Buzz Lightyear for your teenager at Xmas?

Is there a chance this will be NT Live'd? Of course I'm leaving London on 5th April and aren't back until 4th June.

I can’t see why it wouldn’t be done on NT Live. It is likely to sell out, and on for a very short period of time. There are likely to be lots of people wanting to see this which would make an NT Live worthwhile.

Can't go out LIVE on NT Live - I've got the dates until August, and the next two dates with shows to be announced on are after this closes. I guess no reason it couldn't go out delayed, but if they didn't do Lungs (with arguably a more lucrative cast and a more broadly known play/writer) then I'd be surprised to see this go out. |

Fairly sure they were already announced Rory - but it will be Jack Absolute Flies Again, and Romeo and Juliet that will be the other two screenings. |

That was fun. The system was a bit crazy, not showing the production at all. I got at it by using the date scanner, picking the first date it showed, then moving to the date I wanted via the "choose your seats" page navigation. Probably fixed by now, but I've put it here in case it happens to anyone else. Still, done and dusted in 1 minute 39 seconds, usual seat. Drew 76, rest in the 700 to 1000, but no more than that. Plenty of tickets to go around, I'd say. A huge chunk in stalls is reserved as premium seats. |
