I’m surprised considering it’s flopped on Broadway

Based on what i’ve seen, I’m really not a big fan of this show. I’ll be willing to give it a chance if there’s a good cast but i’m not too excited for this honestly.
Maybe i’m misremembering but isn’t the Other Palace supposed to be about helping new British shows get a start? Recently it’s been pretty heavy on the US imports.

I agree and something I pointed out a while ago on the Falsettos thread. I recently downloaded the music from Be more chill and only got half way through it. Didn't do anything for me.

I enjoyed it. Will get the Heathers audience in.
It's the kind of show that will work in a venue this size of The Other Palace, but struggles in a bigger and more mainstream venue. It can also be produced relatively cheaply.

Made me fall asleep when I saw it earlier this year ...the music just wasn’t engaging and it really looked like an off broadway show plonked on the great white way !

I wonder how many of the Heathers/Eugenius/TOP staple stock of cheaper actors will be cast in this one

Not surprised by this at all. I've been thinking since the show closed that it would pop up at TOP although I didn't think it would happen so quickly.

I wonder how many of the Heathers/Eugenius/TOP staple stock of cheaper actors will be cast in this one Yes it's true that there are regular faces in their productions, but most of whom also happen to be very talented? It's a bit insulting to suggest they only get cast because they are 'cheap'.

It's a bit insulting to suggest they only get cast because they are 'cheap'. Well said. Being cast in a couple of shows at The Other Palace doesn't seem to have done Laura Baldwin's career much harm. Does the "staple stock of cheaper actors" include the likes of Laura Pitt Pulford, Natasha Barnes and Daniel Boys who are currently gracing the stage there?

A good match for The Other Palace. Will be interesting to see who they case. Any idea how long the run will be?

Maybe i’m misremembering but isn’t the Other Palace supposed to be about helping new British shows get a start? Recently it’s been pretty heavy on the US imports. I think from the get go they very broadly said 'new musical theatre' not specifically British MT. The studio does more to nurture new shows but yes it is a little annoying to see the US shows being favoured in the main house.

^If new UK musicals are a tedious pile of old bobbins and the US imports are super, smashing, great then guess what?

Funnily enough I always thought this might end up at TOP.
CD not exactly life changing but pleasant and (controversial opinion) I find it less bland than Evan Hansen (they can put that on the posters if they like) and out of the endless stream of American teenage angst musicals this is deffo one of the more palatable (IMHO of course).
Agree there are elements that remind me of Eugenius.
Anyway, if I can get a row G aisle for DVT prevention purposes, I shall check it out.
(Oh and when did advertising dates as "from" such and such (in this case Feb 2020) whilst keeping the end of the booking period/run shrouded in mystery become such a thing? Was unable to find the "to" date anywhere this morning!)
And yes - sad but I guess true - the reason for the endless US stuff in the main house is that nobody in the UK is writing anything as good. Which is sad as the bar I think is pretty low. That thing with Kelsey Grammar was one of the worst musicals I have ever seen. It was so bad, everyone around me was weeping.

How can anyone say that shows being written in the UK aren't as good as those being created in the USA, if these writers don't have the money or support for their work to be seen? Comments like that frustrate me to no end.

Presale (for the email mailing list) has just opened.
Selling fast.
Front row is £69.50, but there are some great 2nd row side seats for £15 for the previews.
(prices go up once the previews are over - the cheap seats go to £19.50)
Booked second row for the first and last performance

Disappointed that the front row is so expensive and designated as the "Squip Zone" whatever that means, so have also booked a second row side seat.
All @ £15 now gone for previews but found one for £19.50 on a weekday when I already have a matinee booked (in Oxford - nothing like living dangerously!)

Thanks for the headup. Says that the front row will contain an "exclusive fan collectable", whatever that may be.
I'm not even interested in this, but I can never resist a bargain, so got one of the £19.50 seats for when I'm in town.
