Not sure there is a benchmark; Neither Waitress nor 9 to 5 were ‘Titanic’ on release were they? ‘Pretty Woman’ was an enormous film. I remember the day it came out on VHS; one of the first £12.99 movies. It’ll be massive, regardless of quality. I saw this on broadway and thought it was enjoyable but so average. I don’t see it being massive but it’ll definitely sell on its name and I can see it filling the 9 to 5 hole. I wonder if Sam Barks will even want to reprise the role after already doing a year in the show? I thought she was good in the role but I wasn’t particularly wowed. I can see them going for more of a celeb name to sell tickets, so my money’s on Amber Davies!! I'd think it would still be a great opportunity for Samantha Barks to raise her profile on this side of the pond and I know at least one happy person if she did it They could still cast the male lead with a bigger name if necessary as I don't think Andy Karl would come over. I also doubt it will be "massive", since the main reaction to the Broadway version seems to have been a resounding "meh" and I include myself in that. The lame stage sets would need a definite boost, though what irked me more was that that they did virtually nothing to address the more questionable aspects of the story and gave Vivian more of an agenda. The way it's now, it just feels a tad dated. Times have changed since the movie came out. I expect a London run along the lines of similar lightweight shows like 9 to 5 and Legally Blonde. It will also depend on what kind of competition it will be up against when it opens. Moulin Rouge would definitely blow it out of the water.

Are you both opted in to getting mail, and selected your "home theatre"? Yep. I’ve even rung them up to make sure everything is set up properly and it is (apparently). And when I told them I’m not getting the mails I just got vague pacifisms like she didn’t believe me or thought I was a bit daft or something. Sounds like a telephone version of my email conversation with them. No interest at all in looking into it further. In contrast, I stopped receiving priority booking emails from The Lowry for a couple of weeks recently after renewing my membership. I emailed The Lowry box office and the following day received a phone call apologising, saying they had reset the membership on my account and extended it by a month free of charge. Problem solved and great customer service to boot. I guess I'll just keep an eye on this thread for when Pretty Woman goes on priority sale and then login on the ATG site and assume it will be listed on the relevant theatre's page!

Interesting, not that it rules out Moulin Rouge going there in 2021 as I suspect Pretty Woman will only run a year to 18 months,

Piccadilly, 'strictly limited run' from Feb 2020 ...no confidence in their product or ‘Moulin Rouge’ has a get-in date scheduled?

Presale is open (at least to Theatrecard members).
Having seen the prices, I will risk waiting for the offers.

That's laughable. Weirdly the dates on sale are 14th Feb (so they can open on Valentine's Day) and 15th Feb and then it jumps to 11th March and it's then on sale until 2 Jan 2021. So they must have lots of confidence in it. Will see it at vastly reduced prices sometime in that period, I'm sure

Declaring it a limited run will help them save face if it flops. If it becomes a big hit after all, they could still consider a move. The three bits of pasteboard that comprise the "stage set" should be easy to transport. Perhaps Moulin Rouge is also biding its time for another theatre to become available. It's one of the few shows I can see selling out a bigger theatre, so I still hope it will go to the Adelphi or the Dominion (if Prince of Egypt doesn't take off).

In case anyone is interested, there is little at under £100 in the Stalls and Dress Circle. A few outer edge seats at £85, then the very back row (or back two rows at some performances) at £65.
The Upper Circle has tickets at £55, £35 and £15 (at the very back). I suppose the £15 might be worth a punt for someone.
The site is advertising the tickets as being "from £10", but I can't see any at that price and every date I've checked has Band F as sold out. They might be reserved for standing.
Now, dynamic pricing applies, but hopefully that's enough to give an idea.

My "exclusive priority link" shows Thursday 13th February as the first preview. They must have just added it, as none of the seats are sold yet.
For the first preview, the rear stalls and rear dress are £49.50, and the top non-premium price is £72.50.

I know I wouldn't be happy if I'd just got overpriced seats thinking it would be the first preview, then they added another the day before.

Yes, on the Piccadilly Theatre page at atgtickets.com, via the alphabetical list, the first night is 13 February. On the actual booking page, the first date is (currently) 14 February.

I mean can they class 46 weeks as a “strictly limited engagement”? It’s basically a year!

No show is a strictly a limited run, if it is selling well, only if it has a star in the cast, with good ticket sales they just extend or move to a different venue. Saying it is ‘just a strictly limited run’ is a way to manage expectations.
Naff musicals can run a long time in the West End, such as Fame, Grease and Dirty Dancing.
At least this one has an original score by Bryan Adams.

I wouldn't call this one "Naff", sure it's no Legally Blonde or Hairspray but its fun enough. The material for Edward though is just so boring that not even Andy Karl could elevate it. Samantha Barks was very good and I'd be very happy to see her in it over here. Likewise, Orfeh was wonderful.

Interesting that the "exclusive pre sale" is currently exclusive to ATG, Time Out and Wh*tsOnStage and possibly others I haven't seen.
