Saw this for the second time on Saturday night and had a total blast. Can't wait to see it again when it comes to Edinburgh.
I was surprised at how empty it was though. Considering it was pride thought it would have been a lot busier.

Saw the new cast last night. The show is just so fun and uplifting, definitely one of my faves on the West End right now. Simon-Anthony Rhoden is just brilliant as Lola and I'm so glad he stayed on, as I loved every second he was on stage. I really enjoyed Oliver Tompsett's voice and he totally nailed Soul of a Man (somehow one of my fave musical theatre songs!). I thought his Charlie was a bit dour though, which first struck me when he went to see Harry (he looked like a bit of a stick in the mud next to Jordan Fox). It was nice to see a new take on the role (out of the other Charlies I'e seen Paul Ayres gave me fish out of water vibes, whilst David Hunter (my fave) was more hapless and the funniest in the role for me) but it took me a while to warm to. Also, I kept noticing an absolutely hilarious ensemble member going all out in the background of every scene. Turns out it was Jonathan Carlton, an understudy Charlie. Has he gone on yet? I presume he joined at the cast change? Anyway a friend of mine wants to see the show so I might see it again on Saturday. What were we saying over on the stage door thread about superfans?  |

I agree David Hunter is probably one of my favourites, but Jordan Fox was pretty remarkable. Save some superfan vibes for when Jordan plays the role for most of August and see him, he is sensational!  |

And just like that, I'm dayseating Kinky Boots on a day when Jordan Fox has two scheduled performances! 😉 My friend's coming up to visit and I suggested ages ago that we should see KB as she hasn't yet, so it's ended up happening completely accidentally.
(Queue looking fairly healthy, 10 waiting at quarter to nine).
Looking forward to seeing where this new Charlie fits in my 'ranking'.

Looks like I’m heading back to the Adelphi tonight! Looking forward to seeing Jonathan’s take on Charlie. I don’t get paid until Friday so looks like I’ll be sitting up in the gods unless I win the lotto but ohh well.

I just saw the show on Tuesday with friends and I'm going again next week with another friend, but I'm rellay tempted to go tonight to catch Jonathan as Charlie... Maybe I'm luck and win the TodayTix lottery for a change

Well I didn’t win the lottery but they did offer me a reduced price stalls seat so I’ve snapped that up. Wasn’t planning on going back to Kinky until Monday but I’m very excited to see Jonathan as Charlie tonight!

Such a strong performance, so likeable, and it was such a different dynamic to see a MUCH younger Charlie who looked fresh out of uni (as alluded to in the script). So funny, and a very good actor who made the most of the more emotional moments too. If you see my previous post about last Monday's show, you'll see that I thought he stood out in the ensemble (for the right reasons, e.g. he was always in the moment), and that carried through here too. Nailed all of the big numbers vocally as well. It's a shame he's 2nd understudy as I'd recommend seeing him but finding dates might be tricky.
Aside from that, of course the show was amazing - it always is. Simon-Anthony Rhoden as brilliant as ever. I welled up a tiny bit at the end because it was just so aggressively feel good. A fab afternoon all round. My newbie friend loved it too!

Absolutely loved his take, really wishing he wasn’t 2nd cover so I’d have a realistic chance of seeing him again. The most emotional Charlie I’ve seen and that definitely added something to the character I hadn’t truly realised was missing. |

Won the lottery for this today.
The understudy for Lola was on, who was pretty good for a understudy.
However Oliver Tompsett as Charlie Price and Natalie McQueen as Lauren were both fantastic and the best I have seen in each role.
One of the best musicals of this decade, still bemused how Dominic Cavendish of the Telegraph gave this a miserly 2 Stars, for me this deserves 3 star star more than that and now it is closing in January will ensure it will go out with its head held high.

Update on final performance, tickets in the Stalls have now had their prices changed. All seats bar the back four rows are now between £99.50-£150. these encompass seats usually priced on a Saturday night between £65.50-£125.
Most of the Stalls are sold now anyway. Less than 100 seats remain.

Was gonna see this today to see Jordan and Natalie, but booked two other shows instead. This turned out to be the right choice for me, both are off!

I saw the new cast on Tuesday and was a bit disappointed by Natalie - she sang the songs well, and did the serious bits well, but comedy isn't her thing, it was the first time I haven't laughed once at History of Wrong Guys. I went last Monday and it was my friend’s first time. She loved her, but had no point of comparison. I thought she was very good, but her comic timing wasn’t quite on point. I wanted to see Jordan Fox again as Charlie but got the dates all wrong. Jordan was on as Harry though and I was impressed by Oliver - better than David Hunter for me. |

Although all were great of course and there's not really much in it. I just thought David Hunter was best for comedy (And his voice really suited all the songs) and Jonathan Carlton was so emotional and real. Deffo need to see Jordan Fox soon too! (When did I become such a fangirl over this show 😂)
