To add further to the Dayseat question... I have Dayseated three times for this and all the times there has been at least 20 people in front of me by 10am and more behind me. The most I have seen, which was just after opening so it presumably has calmed down now, was around 40/50 people in the line for a two show day.

The Wednesday matinee was filmed. There was a note in the theatre and I saw the cameras. Does this mean there may be a DVD? |

I'm guessing it will of been for Archive purposes, which they do for a lot of West End shows. They wouldn't release a DVD now as the show has only been open for 6 months and it is selling really well at the moment, so there would be no need to release it on DVD at the moment.  |

Archive or promotional use..Is there a London trailer with the UK cast? No way would it release a DVD, at least not now. It's doing well here and has a Broadway production and an active US tour. I'm not sure if the Korean version is still running, but I can see this opening pretty much in all major musical theatre cities. They've yet to hit Germany, Netherlands, Japan and Australia and I can see it doing well in all these spots.

It doesn't seem any more expensive than most modern musicals I didn't say it was more expensive. It just has to sell a higher percentage of tickets to make any money. At the moment, it's covering it's costs. |

I think the way the Oliviers are choosing to be shown on ITV and other such airings, will help all shows somewhat with everyone's ticket sales, if they pick smart songs to perform!

I listened to the cast recording on my way to work this morning. Fantastic quality and lovely to have. I've only seen the show once and had both Callum as Lola and Paul as Charlie, have to say that I definitely prefer Callum's voice to Matt in the role. Split on Killian on the cast rec, I've heard him sound better. Lovely to have a London cast recording though, great show!

Oh back to the camera thing...I saw Chloe Hart tweet about everything that was happening this week with the cast album and oliviers and one of her hashtags was #vidrelease so they could be releasing a music video of some sort maybe?

I agree, I think I musical video is probably most likely. Matt Henry tweeted about filming with 30-odd GoPro's, and they wouldn't be used to film an entire show for a DVD release, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't use them to film the show for archive purposes - or maybe they do now! - but I think they've been talking about it more than just for an archive recording. GoPro's would be a good way to shoot and capture a really cool music video especially for something as fantastic as Kinky Boots so hopefully that will be the result - or something along the lines of it being for a public commercial release. Willing to be proved wrong, though! |

I'm actually pretty disappointed with the recording. It's just missing something and doesn't come across as energetic and vibrant as it should. Good vocals but not perfect. And if you have it on loud, there is so much coughing from the audience during the quieter moments! But I'd still rather listen to this than the extremely bad accents on the US one.

I think the recording lacks any excitement. I hate these live recordings- the sound quality is always rubbish.
Plus Matt Henry sounds dreadful in Land of Lola.
Where as the original Broadway recording had great energy- this is as flat as a pancake. A shame as the show live is great.

The Broadway cast performed that number at the Tony's (and the UK cast performed that number on Children In Need) and it's a pretty great number to do out of context to get a feel of the show and story. |

The reason they always perform "Everybody Say Yeah" is that it is the least camp of all of the numbers and they are marketing this as a family show/a show to take Nan to. They aren't marketing the show as "gay" per say just like they never marketing La Cage as gay. La Cage, for all practical purposes is a family musical about a family.
Personally I'd love them to do "The Land of Lola" but that would never happen. Too many stodgy homophobic people out there

Based on these shoes being involved in the Oliviers, the performance Kinky will be doing tonight is Sex is in The Heel as these are the shoes the drag queens where in that scene! |

I am so thrilled for this taking the top prize plus Actor and Costume... truly deserving and with the brilliant performance I wouldn't be at all surprised if this stays in the West End for a few more years to come! |
