Just seen on the Salford Lowry website, GreenCarnation Theatre are doing a production of this play next year. Its on on at the Lowry from the 23rd-25tth Jan 2020. From their Twitter feed, it looks like its touring a few venues up North. No further venues have been announced as of yet.

I do love this play. I saw the original West End and Donmar productions - and have directed it.
I hope this finds an audience - it is a lot more than the nude scene!

I love this play. I was totally captivated by the BBC2 adaptation with the original West End cast back when I was a kid coming to terms with my sexuality in the AIDS era.
I saw it at the Edinburgh Fringe many years ago and LOVED the Donmar production. Might have to make the trip up north if I can make it work.
Also, it may well be a lot more than the nude scene, but that scene in particular is so sensual and tender and charged. I'm always down for a nude scene, but most are genuinely superfluous. The nude scene in this is essential.

I was at today’s matinee. A great ensemble production with fantastic performances from the cast of 6. There was plenty of biting humour in this production (David Gregan-Jones was wonderful as Daniel and Steve Connolly as Benny got some great one liners) whilst still being able to have that emotional depth as the characters try to come to terms with their individual pasts and secrets are revealed.
Despite the uneven running time (Act 1 was 35 mins whilst Act 2 was 75mins), I thought it was well paced and certainly kept me entertained. The simple flat setting with the 80s neon lighting was well done.
I’d certainly recommend seeing this on tour.

It is a three act piece hence it is always going to be uneven. When I directed, I split it between acts 2 and 3 which makes better dramatic sense to me.

I’m afraid none of my group of six were blown away tonight. There are some wonderful one liners and lots of bitchy repartee which we did rather enjoy, but we found some of the acting a bit lacking (perpetual hand on hip denotes slightly effeminate gay?) and some of the casting odd and this threw the entire thing off. Act three seemed to go on forever, lots of long pauses and lighting of many many cigarettes. And of course the dreaded “is that it then?” ending.
The full frontal nude scene jarred, I couldn’t seen the point of it but I’m sure it sold a fair few tix back in the day. Now though? It added nothing. I’d have rather they kept their pants on to be honest.
So much has changed, I’m very willing to be reminded of this world, how terrified people were and how absolutely vile gay men (and people in general) can be to each other but I’m not sure this is the best vehicle to do it.

We were there on Friday and I agree with Burly.
I have seen two prev productions in London and did not like this at all.
Some of the acting ( John character) was very poor.
