This year #PublicActs in association with the National Theatre is As You Like It at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch taking place over the August Bank Holiday.
Pericles was excellent last year, the vivacity and sense of fun was infectious and look forward to seeing what they achieve on a smaller scale.

Should technically be in the musical section.
Shakespeare through the medium of song, absolutely brilliant, pure joy from the moment Jaques walks onto the stage telling us all the worlds a stage and we are merely players invoking the amateur status of the cast.
The plot remains but all also is up for grabs.
The enthusiasm and delight of the diverse cast is infectious, with smiles that could light up a winters night, the ensemble musical moments particularly powerful, a sea of colour, joy and wonder fills the entire stage.
Notable mention must be made of mini-Jaques who closes out the play, such confidence and talent in one so young.
From a conversation to one involved in the project next years will be based in Doncaster, am seriously considering a trip as these NT community productions are becoming a highlight of the NT annual programming.

Sorry, didn't make the connection! "In 2020, Cast will present the third instalment of the National Theatre Public Acts project which will see over 120 local people performing alongside professionals in a large-scale National Theatre production." The production will be a new version of The Caucasian Chalk Circle, adapted by Chris Bush, who just about qualifies as a local, and directed by James Blakey. More at castindoncaster.com |
