Desperate for attention. Being honest, I still don't understand the controversy. Nosey front of house staff abused their position to discover that ticket sales were no longer to the extent of the run, spread rumours, and outspoken and unprofessional actors decided to act like petulant children, forcing RUG to make a statement on a bank holiday (for them then to complain about a statement being made on a bank holiday, when they practically held RUG to ransom with crappy Instagram lives...). If everyone actually just takes a step back, they'd see that there really isn't any controversy here at all. Quite clearly the plan was not to release a rushed statement on a bank holiday, but they were left with little choice. Anyway, thread is here: theatreboard.co.uk/thread/6635/alws-cinderella?page=201Yes i agree, its for attention and drama. Joel has form for being a bit of a 'Karen', his social media has a history of tantrums at companies etc. So this isn't much of a surprise.

Looking on the bright side, Summer Strallen’s hat is still getting a lot of work…

Really embarrassing for him to resurrect drama he wasn't even a part of!

Really embarrassing for him to resurrect drama he wasn't even a part of! To be honest, I think everyone just needs to get a bit of a grip and some perspective. It's like the controversy around the letter from The Other Palace to their FoH staff literally thanking them for their service. People are just desperate for drama.

Which of your cousins had to make the ultimate sacrifice, BurlyBeaR ? Please tell me it wasn't Beauregard.

Was convinced I was having a stress induced hallucination after the Royal Court booking fiasco this morning
If it's Jamie Lloyd's CINDERELLA I'm moving out into the woods to live a secluded life with nothing but my The Show Must Go On! DVDs

You know what, even if they made a misguided decision to tour it and it was two minutes from my front door at the Palace I don’t think I’d go. It’s got very bad juju, dare I say a “toxic” vibe about it? Just let it die Andrew.
(I do enjoy this thread though 🙂)

If it does come back I hope that they make their mind up what they’re going for with it. Wasn’t really suitable for the family audiences it was marketed towards.
Personally I’d like it if they leaned more into the adult humour and Saltburn-ish side of it.

And there’ll be the discovery of a ‘my wonderful new gel’ as the star, who in fact will have been in the biz for years.

I still think there is a good production possible but this is a show that actually does need a "reimagining" and I'm not sure it will get that.

It just felt very dated, and 'I'm not like other girls' is very 15 years ago.
Plus cinderella didn't want to be judged, but judged everyone else around her and used disparaging language.
Add in that none of the creators, or it's star, seemed to understand the original fairytale. Cinderella was never 'waiting for a man to save her' . She just wanted a good night out away from her abuse at home. She just happened to meet someone and fall I'm love (yes that was all very quick, but its a fairytale not a novel).

Still waiting for the tour of the Australian production of Love Never Dies which got cancelled because of Covid, that one I prefer to see. Being a Lloyd Webber fan, I can easily say that Cinderella was his worst musical, the only redeeming theatre was the ballroom scene, other that it was terrible.

This feels like a dare after too heavy of a night out, like "Go on Andy, dare you! Dare you to tour Cinderella!" and he's woken up the next morning not sure of what happened the night before and someone has to tell him that they've started production...
Who does he owe money to lol
