Just seen a fluff piece on BBC News, interview with Andy and Emerald Fennel, some rehearsal footage and clips from the EPK, nothing earth shattering but maybe worth catching on iPlayer if you're a fan of the show.

Well, so far we’ve had a couple of tiny line changes but as far as I can tell that’s all - certainly nothing major. Ivano is wearing his black hand brace and still isn’t catching the ball in Man’s Man but is doing the push up - carefully!

Just an observation. I like her dress too.
I was just thinking with all the delays the timing hasn't exactly been fantastic for her — if I were her I'd have preferred it to have opened when I wasn't either very pregnant or with a tiny baby!
What's the bit with the palm trees they're showing on Instagram? The ticket office? Is it always like that, or is that a Cinderella thing?

Cinderella making the BBCs 10 o'clock news... When was the last time a musical opening made the main TV news 🤔

Cinderella making the BBCs 10 o'clock news... When was the last time a musical opening made the main TV news 🤔 Probably Hamilton, or the new version of Les Mis. It isn't entirely uncommon.

Exactly one change since last I saw it - the dialogue for the girls dancing with Sebastian at the ball. Everything else was exactly the same. So they certainly didn't close as part of some big conspiracy to make edits :')

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they've been there a while pre-Cinderella. I have absolutely no idea why they're there.

4 stars from Marianka Swain in The Telegraph
I was there tonight and have a feeling it will get very warm reviews. The stars are aligning on its behalf.

Looks like they were using their entry space as a spillover box office last night, hence the beach theming.

"and the evening could usefully lose 20 minutes in length, without sacrificing any of its impact." That doesn't say 4 * review to me

To be fair, most new musicals could lose 20 minutes. It’s the ones that leave it in for years that deserve our ire. Even ‘Wicked’ eventually condensed ‘A Sentimental Man’ 😂

It appears most recent reviews of new shows, not just Cinderella are on the generous side, though I guess that is to be expected in the current climate. Hope to get to see Cinderella soon when a long awaited trip to London occurs!

Fantastic to see so many positive reviews from the critics for this show - a refreshing change to some of the snidey comments from people desperate to see it fail.

Hope to get to see Cinderella soon when a long awaited trip to London occurs! Yes, a lot of the 4*/5* reviews I've read for any production recently in London don't really read like reviews that in normal times deserve 4 stars or 5 stars. Think so many are so desperate to have anything to review that their view is rather clouded. Shenton's seems more balanced. I was rather dismayed by the shots/photos of the audience. I can't believe so many were exempt from wearing masks. It's what's putting me off going to anything right now--I'd love to, but I can't trust the audience members. A far cry from the respect shown in South Korea (thinking of the documentary that was recently released about Cats and Phantom continuing performances there during the pandemic thanks to a competent government and a considerate audience).

I was rather dismayed by the shots/photos of the audience. I can't believe so many were exempt from wearing masks. Yes I agree, that's what is putting me off going back to the theatre, especially as there are regular reports on how few audience members seem to be wearing face coverings. Today's news that being double vaccinated does not prevent transmission of the delta variant would I hope increase audiences willingness to do the decent thing and wear the face coverings. You are doing it for others as well as yourself.

They lived through SARS in the far east so are, I assume, much more used to it.

You are doing it for others as well as yourself. I was particularly disappointed to see other theatre actors in the audience not wearing masks. Audiences are trying to help protect your livelihood and keep theatres open, and you can't even be bothered to put a mask on? Changed my minds about a few people last night.

I'm sceptical about this notion that critics will be more generous simply because theatre is making a return. A professional critic is not likely to allow that to influence their opinion of a show. The Guardian review was detailed and fully justified its five star rating by what was actually said. This is also true of other positive reviews. The difference with Quentin Letts' early review in previews is that he didn't justify his rating with a detailed critique - had all the other reviews been as cursory as his there might be a case, but no. The critics genuinely loved this.
