Having seen one particular cast member treat the past year as one big gay party holiday, I’m not the least bit surprised by this news. Perhaps you mean "one big party holiday"? |

I am so gutted for this amazing cast. A real shame that testing can’t be used in place of full company isolation. Daily testing would be a huge help not only for live events but also schools as well. It's currently being trialled at the moment so clearly there is a plan to potentially use it in lieu of isolating in the near future. |

I don’t believe it’s worrying at all. I am gay and I found it funny. I know people as well who used this last year to party and drink. Theatres have been stringent in enforcing the rules and have been testing everyone daily. This is a pandemic and cases are rising - it’s inevitable that in a large company there will be positive cases. Blame the absurd government rules which insist that any contacts isolate for 10 days even if they test negative. Don’t blame individual people or make judgments based on their social media accounts. It’s a bit like blaming one 19 year old footballer for England losing the Euros. |

The very small minority of people who don’t let silly little things like travel restrictions or a global pandemic get in the way of their holidays. Thirdly, the person I was thinking of was in those pictures of a packed out Soho when the pubs reopened, and when they closed again he jetted off on a holiday that went from country to country for months, only returning when the show started back up. I’m not saying it’s him that tested positive, but to me it implies that even after being out of work for a year some still aren’t taking this serious enough and this show and others are paying the price. Finally, I have a suggestion for you: how about you stop attacking people all the time? |

Very generous, thanks and were I not at the airport I would be there. I once tried to give away a celebrity chef aided air seat (with a meal and lots of champagne) and got nowhere. I was torn with this show. It’s got all the right parts, but it doesn’t quite sit right. Almost like parts of the show contradict others awkwardly in terms of style and success. Visually, it’s stunning. The projections are used wonderfully, and there’s a huge scale to the large moments such as the parting of the sea. And some wonderful set pieces using ensemble movement work creatively, such as the sea carrying Moses’s basket.. But then the grandeur of that is dropped for rather clunky awkward pantomimey scenes played out in the corner of the set, in an exaggerated style favouring the audience.
Then the first half dragged terribly, the second half seemed to race at speed (even skipping some of the plagues?) to get to the big finish.
Overall though, I enjoyed it. We got a scattered standing ovation at our performance, but to even that out I noticed at least two couples who left at the interval. Shame for them as the second act (in my opinion) is much, much stronger.
The best comparison for me is that it was very reminiscent of the stage shows they put on in theme parks like Disney and Universal Studios - expensive and epic, and mainly built for the spectacle. The scenes and narrative feel like almost an afterthought thrown in with little thought, just to thread together some pre-planned (highly impressive) set pieces and a few great songs. And to be honest, I‘ve never not enjoyed those theme park shows.

I’ve just arrived to see today’s matinee (the first back after their COVID suspension, I believe) and there are queues all the way around the back of the theatre on both sides! There’s no way that they’re going to get everyone into the theatre in time for the curtain to go up on schedule, these are the worst queues I’ve ever seen at a theatre.

I know Rush tickets are available but the seats offered aren’t very inspiring.
