Or 2 stars! It's a solid 3 stars on vocals and technical merit alone.

I don’t really get in what world Prince of Egypt deserves 1 star! Well he got one ‘like’ for his review on Twitter. So well done him 👍

I gave 2 stars on the first Friday preview, 2nd night of paying audience. Maybe it's tightened up but I'm still happy with what I gave for the show I saw.

I saw this last night and whilst there are some high points, Deliver Us (except this was SO LOUD I thought my eardrums might explode), When You Believe and the dance, the rest is a weird and awkward mess. The songs are far better than the spoken stuff which is in parts terrible and parts average but even the songs seemed to have one or two big notes at the end which came from nowhere following a very middle of the road song. I'm not really familiar with the bible story except vague memories of a baby in a basket, plagues, the ten commandments and the parting of the red sea, but the story didn't enlighten me at all I thought assumed quite a lot of knowledge. The way they did the killing of the first borns was emotive but I can't remember why it happened in the bible and this didn't tell me.
The theatre seemed nearly full from the dress circle, very diverse audience, I was in K17 in the dress circle for £25 which I thought was an excellent seat. Very central but still on an aisle, good leg room, perfect sight lines, not too far from the stage. There was a standing ovation, but not from everyone where I was sitting. The people next to me were blown away but I did hear people complaining as we were waiting to leave: "Stephen Schwartz can't possible think they were good songs."
Overall a real shame as this could be epic and I really wanted to love it, but it needs a full rewrite! I was giving it 2 stars at the very beginning but it moved up to 2.5 literally just because of the fire...

Looking at the £15 Today Tix offer. Would you go for back of circle or back or stalls for this one?

Looking at the £15 Today Tix offer. Would you go for back of circle or back or stalls for this one? Definitely circle, even though you're literally in the Gods. I'd imagine you lose a lot in the back of the stalls because of the overhang and this production has a LOT going on top of stage and around the sides reaching out into the audience x

I've been reading reviews from people who have been back since the initial previews and there sounds like they have made some good changes. Has anyone else been back to compare?

I saw the final Friday preview, and if there had been good changes made since the initial previews, then god only knows what the original version of this show was like!

What a joke - you can't usually use a phone in a theatre, let alone an iPad. In fairness they all had their screens turned to the lowest brightness possible, but it was still annoying as I was right on the aisle and could see it out of the corner of my eye the entire 2nd half. They weren't there in the first half, maybe they watched it from the stalls or they thought it was already perfect....

Surely assessing the ‘product’ should be done behind closed doors at the DR? Not fair to disrupt the audience at a paid performance imo.

I had the creatives sitting directly in front of me at Preludes. They used the old fashioned method of pen and paper - unfortunately illuminated by a pencil torch! During the interval people across the aisle complained to an usher, and he had to explain who they were (and why they would be carrying on!).

I suppose it's the price you have to pay when you go to a preview along with things going wrong. But understand it can be annoying.

Different show, but I had creatives next to me at the third preview of Be More Chill a couple of weeks ago - he introduced himself to me before it started, said he'd be making notes throughout the show, how his phone would be on black-light and he would shield it as much as possible, but to tell him if it became irritating and he'd sort it straight away. He was brilliant about it and I barely even noticed him typing.

Someone complained about the man, it seemed he was drawing rather than writing, on an ipad. I presumed something to do with lighting. The usher went in Act 2 to talk to him, he explained and carried on. Did think there must be more discreet places for him to be than on the isle in 'premium seats' with an ipad on full brightness!

On Broadway they always sit at or beside/in the mixing desk.
I have no idea why they can't just do that here especially at something like Preludes as the venue is tiny so it's not like they'd miss anything.
Maybe overhang or the fact our mixing desks are usually surrounded by seating instead of behind it?

Has anyone had luck with Rush Seats for POE on Today Tix? I imagine these go fairly quickly. Are there any available at the Box Office each day?
