So a jukebox show... can only imagine how tacky that will be with BK at the helm.
Great original story - no doubt about that. But it doesn't deserve this sort of treatment

Not exactly an original story as it's a rip-off of Dangerous Liaisons.
The last thing I (personally) need is yet another musical set among bitchy American high schoolers. Luckily the 90s pop doesn't do anything at all for me so unless they cast someone I'd really really love to see, I'll give this a pass.

It would need a very specific ‘energy’ to be interesting. And SMG back being a total baddass coke hoovering fox. And Reese Witherspoon back being Reese Witherspoon...hell no, don’t bother. I’ll just stick the movie on.

It's not just BK. It's a Paul Taylor Mills and BK co-production, like Heathers was.

The original story was referring to the LaClos not the film.

I love the film (at least I absolutely adore the character of Kathryn Merteuil) so not at all keen on the sound of this!

“The action of the piece will be played out to a sound-track of some of the most iconic hits of the 90’s including Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn, I Saw the Sign by Ace of Base, Boyz II Men’s I’ll Make Love to You, NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, Britney Spears’ Sometime, REM’s Losing My Religion, Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve and many more.”
I mean, don’t get me wrong, these are all TUNES but this sounds like it could be terrible 😆

Cruel Intentions is such a great film and I think that selection of classic songs will only cheapen the story

Well Bittersweet Symphony is in the film. The only other one I know (I think) is "Losing My Religion" (which I really like, still don't like the idea of a musical though.) Oh well. I didn't like the idea of a Heathers musical when I first heard about it either, and now I'm fanatical about it...

I saw the production in New York and, to be honest, thought it was a pretty ropey affair. I won't be rushing to see it in Edinburgh.

So who are we expecting to be cast?
Ben from A1? Lee from 911? Sarah Harding? One of the half a million Sugababes?

The cast album is on Spotify (already discovered it a few weeks ago & love it!).
So yes it’s rumoured to be heading to ‘The Other Palace’ here for it!!

Interesting they've decided to perform this in the George Square circus tent.

Looking at the NY fringe production on You tube, the tent venue makes sense. Immersive with no set.

Casting announced!
The full cast is Dominic Andersen, Rebecca Gilhooley, Evelyn Hoskins, Scott Hunter, Sophie Isaacs, Dean John-Wilson, Ashley Samuels and Gemma Salter.
Can't wait to see this in Edinburgh!
Evelyn Hoskins has a busy second half of 2019. Cruel Intentions at the Fringe, Assassins at the Watermill/Nottingham Playhouse and then Snow White at Sheffield Lyceum.

Interesting casting and I’d like to see this show, having loved the film when I was younger. That’s not the best image mind, looks weirdly photoshopped?

Oh- this cast make me want to catch this; regardless of how cringe it may be!

I'd quite like to see this, only I wish it was a play rather than a musical. I can understand something like Clueless being turned into a jukebox musical, but not this.

I think I’ll be seeing this now based on the casting. I want to see Sophie especially.
The Assembly tent will be a new venue for me too so that’s exciting.
