Ooh, that was one of my Donmar fantasy opening season picks. Only one I've seen was 1992 at Young Vic with Corin Redgrave and Francesca Annis - of which I have almost no memory.

I've just dragged out my programme from the Cottesloe production, circa 1988. Roger Lloyd Pack was 'indisposed' and had been replaced by Rupert Frazer. But my memory is of the wonderful Suzanne Bertish. An absolute treat.

I know nothing about the show but i’ll almost definitely see it just because Hayley Atwell is so amazing.

I'm looking at a Weds mat in July and there seems to be a lot near the front stalls at £62.50. Some very cheap restricted (just a pole) views in Upper Circle at £15.00. But, yes, does one buy one now or hope for offers...? Rosmersholm in the West End, two highly regarded actors, but not stars...

I was looking at a Saturday so maybe cheaper midweek. I'm working on the basis that the not massively starry cast and the fact is Ibsen will lead to offers

Always happy for more Ibsen. I appreciate this makes me a bit of a special case. But stupid prices again. It's almost like they don't want to succeed

Looks like I’ll be waiting for the discounts and day seat info before seeing this in May. The only day I’ve got free in my London theatre week is a Saturday and prices are currently outside by budget.

Hmm...so Tom Burke plays Strike, and JK Rowling’s latest Strike novel quotes extensively from... Rosmersholm. I’m not a detective but my hunch is this casting may be more than mere coincidence. ;-)

Though considering that JKR worked on the novel for a very long time, I can't imagine this to be more than a very amusing coincidence. Waiting for dayseats on this one, but would love to see it if I get the chance.

Very excited by this, but as many have said, it is one pricey evening. Still, it’s CB Strike and Peggy Carter doing Ibsen so I’m happy to pay out

I enjoyed the Almeida production with Paul Hilton and Helen McCrory. I remember Malcolm Sinclair as Dr Kroll being particularly good.

Saw this yesterday via a TodayTix offer for the last row of the stalls. View is fine if you're tall as there's not much rake but it is very far away. Apparently the first preview, which is not something I've attended before. I thought they were very well rehearsed though with only two or three stumbles and one picture covering desperately clinging on. My only gripe was with the sound, it was clear but simply not loud enough in a few places.
Booked entirely due to Hayley Atwell being cast - I hadn't seen this before or read the play but the adaptation makes quite a few changes compared to the plot summary on Wiki, if the latter is accurate.
The dialogue is quite funny in places, especially in the opening dinner scene because the allusions to recent events are so obvious. I'm not sure the overall plot/characterization works in a completely logical way throughout but the actors are delivering their best.
Strongly recommend but perhaps give it a bit of time to settle in.

Also saw this last night. I really really enjoyed it.
Didn’t know much about it before seeing it, but it was clear and reasonably brisk. Typical Ibsen themes of hypocrisy, treatment of women & the stultifying expectations of society. Lots of contemporary relevance too - especially about the press and reputation. Really savage ironic humour in places - you’ll laugh more than you’d expect to.
The set & lighting were really good and the last moments of the play are quite impressive.
Performances were all strong - thought Giles Terrera was particularly good. Atwell and Burke were good - I was in the circle and could hear them well but it wasn’t overly loud. They both have lovely speaking voices - although Tom Burke was more physically awkward than I expected, given that he’s done a lot of stage work.
Thought this was excellent. Glad to see a really well done version of a less well known Ibsen piece.
