I got a ticket for fourth preview, second row grand circle for £49.50. It'll be £70+ once it's open, so I'll take my chances with how ready the show is! The differential between preview and standard prices is much more than usual, some £59.50 preview seats are £150 after opening night. The two I've booked become £95.

It's the same strategy Disney used for Aladdin, except this time it's not just the first few performances but the whole of the preview period

I'm going on 7th Nov - grabbed P9 in the stalls for £59.50. After previews that seat goes up to £89, so I'm assuming it's a decent view. Hopefully not too much will change in the last 5 days of previews!

Is Caroline OConnor playing Elsa? joke? Yes. Or no. Or yes? Isn’t she contractually obliged to appear in every professional musical in Australia ?

Aah but of course Jemma Rix is playing Elsa. Saw her in Ghost in Sydney quite a few years back now, she's a great performer.

Frozen closing on Broadway (or rather it's not reopening).

Doesn’t surprise me. It has been on TKTS for a while.
Perhaps it NEEDED the ice castle I had gone on about after all?

To be blunt ..... they might blame the virus but Lion King isn’t closing - Frozen just wasn’t good enough, and Disney knew it.
Did it even recoup? I doubt it. A flop and I blame Michael Grandage .

As a musical I was never convinced by Froezn - the set seemed to go down the "reasonably lavish panto" route and didn't give the extravagant production people expected.
I wonder if this will result in a scaled down (tour designed) production at TRDL a la Shrek's transfer or if they'll stick with the full Broadway replica.

So from the looks of the statement, Frozen is being pushed back to next year in London?

So from the looks of the statement, Frozen is being pushed back to next year in London? I had assumed that was probably going to happen anyway. I imagine the renovation works at the theatre are a couple of months behind schedule. We don't know if they fully cast, and they certainly can't assume to be able to be in rehearsals over the summer (I imagine this would have started in August at the latest). I imagine now they'll open April 2021, going into rehearsal the other side of Christmas, avoiding the traditional quiet period in London and hitting the start of the tourist season. We can't assume this, or anything, will sell as well as it would have done three months ago.

Do people want to see Frozen during a summer holiday - it feels a winter show to the core.

No theatres and producers in London even expect to reopen anytime this year. Some say early 2021 at the earliest. Frozen will not be opening this year.
Also- the renovation of Drury Lane is behind because of the shutdown.

I can't believe that Disney would mount a scaled down version of Frozen. The creative team was going to revise the show for London so closing the Broadway production seemed logical. Perhaps it will give Frozen a fresh start. I'm also hoping that now that the a very large theatre is available in New York, Beetlejuice will move in there next March and finally find it's audience.

Not gonna happen - Beetlejuice played its “last” performance on broadway 6th June. It’s officially closed. Could come over here at some future point?

Disney are putting their revival of Beauty and the Beast in there. When it became clear Frozen wasn’t going to run for as long as anticipated, they started planning it to go there afterwards.

Makes sense! And I’m sure a large proportion of people seeing Frozen were international tourists, which will surely be lacking when Broadway eventually opens up.
