Thats a pretty good run in this day and age especially considering the size of the theatre. I need to make another visit before it closes.

I know the pandemic got in the way but for the London production to run longer than the Broadway production is a good achievement.
Fourth longest running Disney show after Lion King, Aladdin and the original run of Mary Poppins.
Will be interesting to see what's next for Drury Lane.

I wonder if a tour will happen after the London production closes?

…and he hasn’t been a name for about ten years. They’d do well to tempt Johannes or Rylan, but this archaic show doesn’t need reviving again so soon. Why do you consider this show to be particularly archaic? There are plenty of other West End long runners/revivals that could be deemed as ever more archaic? E.g. Guys & Dolls I think that theres a big difference between classic/old fashioned; big hearted golden age kind of stuff and something that whilst relatively modern uses archaic ideas and stereotypes to attempt to make people laugh in a more modern setting. It is culturally outdated.

I wonder if a tour will happen after the London production closes? Pretty sure it will. Would obviously be a scaled down version but would probably sell well enough.

Sadly the official Instagram has said there's no plans for a tour. Maybe one day though?! Also for anyone else who wants to book the final show or any others past June, they've said these will be available on Thursday.

I wouldn't be surprised if they use one of the existing sets for a UK tour, I wonder if the Australian production set is in storage because that would be the most likely one to use since it was designed to be tourable.

Painful.

Have to give this shows’ team credit. They did what most shows that cost this much never do anymore and that’s take the time to improve it. This West End version was MUCH better than what we had in New York. It seemed everything from the book to the set was touched up and fixed where it could be improved.

Most of the changes were from the US tour which then became the standard for future productions.

I just love the arrangements, the little motifs hidden within different songs, the multiple moments of whoosh in your face bombast & joy, and I think most of all I love how easily it fits in on a two show day. A two hour blast of Disney gorgeousness.

Oh sad to hear it’s closing but it’s been coming a while it seems. Although I wish Lion King would close and this would stay!! I’m booked to see it in a few weeks when Sam Barks is back but will try to go a few more times over summer, this such a comfort show for me.
Interesting that they’re closing the run on a Sunday, I don’t know why I find that surprising though.

I'm guessing it's because Frozen doesn't have Monday or Tuesday performances so Sunday is the last day of the week performance wise.

It looks, despite people telling us otherwise based on Broadway, spectacular. Not a popular opinion at all I suspect 🤣🤣🤣

I don't rate the movie much but the show I thought was really well done. Probably the best disney show since The Lion King

I’d previously loved the first iteration of Mary Poppins but it was deemed too dark & complicated for our stupid brains, so was dumbed down.

I’d previously loved the first iteration of Mary Poppins but it was deemed too dark & complicated for our stupid brains, so was dumbed down. Poppins has its moments, but it can also be quite flat and drawn out at times Little Mermaid just had the wrong concept. Hunchback likewise, but definitely has potential on a bigger scale. Tarzan has great songs and some great staging, but not sure on it as a show on the whole. Aladdin I loved some of, but the villain was a disappointment and went into panto territory at times. Beauty and the beast (original) for me captured disney magic the best, and the Lion king is just so unique and well done.

Lion King is almost its own thing, yet still a bore apart from the bookends & a couple of bright spots dotted around. The original BATB was special also, but has just been turned into a cash cow touring shadow of its former self.

The original Berlin production of Hunchback was perfect IMO. Incorporating more book elements (fine to flesh out the characters/narrative but it makes a long and heavy show even longer and heavier) and the 'narration' aspect completely bogged it down.
Thai Mol Piyas was fun at least!

Newsies always goes under the radar but I liked how smaller in scale it was compared to other Disney shows and that the source material was a film that was a financial disaster.
Hunchback is one I admire that it's a hybrid of the book and the film similar to Mary Poppins.
