Caught this last night! Costumes stunning (they deserve a nod for Oliviers) The tech / lighting in Let It Go was amazing. Little Elsa and Anna was so talented too as well as their adult counterparts - both endearing and vocally incredible.
However despite their performances - I just wasn't blown away by this musical. I think the book is weak...BUT the score is gorgeous though and loved the harmonies.
I was expecting to have my COVID Passport scanned/proof but nothing - yet the lady next to me did.
So seems pot luck!
The refurb is next level - it feels like a hotel! So posh. Would recommend getting there a bit earlier to have an explore!

So the evening performance this evening. I really enjoyed it for what it was. We had the 2nd Understudy Anna, who was amazing. I actually got a bit emotional at the end, as she got an additional bow and a little clap from the rest of the cast. It was really lovely to see. The cast as a whole was great. I had reservations around Ormson, after seeing him in Addams Family a few years ago (guy has the most irritating singing voice known to man, I swear) but he was great - he's either had singing classes, or he was purposefully terrible as Lucas...
There was so much terrible behaviour, though. I've never seen it a show where the behaviour was so shocking. We had a group of 10 - 5 children and 5 mothers. The mothers sat on the row behind the children and the children on our row. They screamed their way through it (not even sing, which would have been bad enough.) Their rendition of Let It Go was particularly memorable. Their parents, during the song, then proceeded to literally yell "GO SUSIE!!!! LOOK AT THEM GO!!!". I had a German couple next to me, who also sang their way through the show... only in German. The German couple also replied to texts throughout and even recorded a portion of the show. I also had an awkward moment with one of the parents of the kids - at the end of the interval, they accidentally came to my row instead of theirs. She joked with me "Oh no, I've accidentally came to the kids row. Glad I'm not here!" to which I responded with "Yeah, I wish I wasn't..." She looked mortified. Oops.
Another thing I wasn't happy with was that we bought tickets when they first went up on o2 Priority and had our date changed twice. They were band 4 tickets. The seats LOOKED OK on SeatPlan, but they were restricted view. We paid £69.50 each, but the actual seats sell for £29.50 (£40 loss per ticket) - I didn't even check before hand, only realised once we go to the theatre and noticed how dreadful the seats were. I'm going to email a complaint.

I honestly think theatre behaviour is getting worse and worse, especially at family shows. Do parents just not shush their children anymore? I honestly just couldn't sit through Frozen for this very reason. I had the same thing at Bedknobs - two little boys behind me who discussed everything on stage at full volume while the Mummies threw back prosecco.

I should have checked at the time, but I didn't think of checking, to be honest. Just trusted it was correct. The view on Seat Plan doesn't look terrible, but the person who has taken the photos was obviously standing up.

They also wolf-whistled and yelled "PHWOAH!" during Anna's on-stage costume change. They also cackled and couldn't stop for about 2 minutes after Barks accidentally asked "Where is Elsa?" instead of "Where is Anna?". At the end, they were literally chanting for Anna to punch Hans. It was just a mess. The usher did nothing - he was too busy catching up with some people he knew in the audience in the row in front of us. To quote him just before the show started, when he should have been holding up the no phone and wear mask signs, "I should be doing something now, but oh well!"

Glad I went to an early preview (which I hadn't really planned), side front stalls. It was never totally quiet, but the kids around me appreciated the show and their parents were fine. Wouldn't want to go to a matinee now and sit in the middle of the audience. But that is what you should expect from this show and be prepared for when booking.

They should do age-restricted performances, even if it's only a couple a month. Producers must know that there are theatre fans who don't have children, and who want to be able to enjoy the show without having it ruined by the portion of families who don't know how to behave.

I'm sure they could do it and, I think, would be popular. Afterall many theatre do relaxed performances every now and again.

Perhaps an adults only version where Elsa’s dress is ripped clean off, they really are naked in the sauna and Olaf does a five minute blue stand up routine…in this family show.

I think the issue with a kids-free performance is how many parents would turn up with kids anyway and claim they had 'no idea' about the restriction. Either having ignored a message online or bought through a third party who didn't pass on the information. Then they'd kick up a fuss about how Frozen was a 'children's show' and how dare they not be allowed to sit in the seats they'd paid for. The poor ushers would have the worst shift of their lives...

They could always do what they do in Huddersfield. The adults only performance of an amateur panto has a start time of 9.30pm on a Friday. That should avoid any confusion, especially with an advertised end time of near enough midnight!
It's currently sold better than the 'regular' performance on either side, so there is clearly a demand locally, which suggests there is a demand nationally.

Every performance is age restricted. It’s supposed to be 6+, but it’s being flouted by people buying tickets and the theatre are choosing not to enforce it. There was a bloke with a child too young to walk in his arms when I went. God knows if a seat had been purchased for them or not. I must admit to a smirk fleeting across my lips when literally 1 minute before Let It Go started a woman had to take three little girls all in their Elsa costumes out of the auditorium presumably for wee wees. That would have been about £250 literally down the toilet 😏.

Amusing reading rough tough BurlyBeaR using the term wee wees in a posting.
Whatever went wrong with this show in New York seems to have been fixed as it seems to be the hit show in London, selling out even at the premium ticket prices. Was looking at a Saturday evening mid October and the few single tickets are showing at £165 whereas as you can have a pretty good choice of stall seats for Cinderella or back to the future on the same night for half that price.

I enjoyed this on Saturday night, although I regret paying £90 for rear grand circle. Glad it was a short show as any longer it might have dragged. The cast were great, especially the second understudy Anna. Samantha Barks must be recovered from her chest infection as her voice sounded strong. Loved the sets, thought the ice bridge was under-used. DYI almost no one wore masks and they did not check our covid cert.

I've just swung by The Lane ahead of today's matinee. It's very kind of Andrew to close the road for me, but completely unnecessary. He obviously doesn't know I was in the Tutfy Club. 🐿
If children under 3 aren't admitted, why is there a buggy park down the side, opposite the Fortune Theatre? Honestly, kids these days!
"Look Mummy, there's another Elsa." I suspect her poor mother will be hearing that quite a lot this afternoon.

I saw the first preview of this and I've a question for anyone who's seen it since - does it always snow outside after the show, or was that just a first preview thing?

I was at the 1st preview too but missed the snow as we were led out of a side door. Only found out when I got home and saw video footage. I was gutted.

It was very effective, but certainly slowed down people's exit, which was admittedly a little annoying as there was a bottleneck at the doors. It's the same kind of 'snoap' (soap snow) they use nightly during Christmas season at WDW, I believe, so there's really no reason they couldn't do it every night (unless it's raining, when it just makes everything treacherously slippery). Perhaps they couldn't get permission from the council? Or just don't want the delayed exit every night.

Managed to get one of the Disney £20 day seats for tonight. Stalls seat as well. This will be my 2nd visit as was there for 1st preview. I must keep away from the merch shop though as I am so tempted to buy an Olaf toy.
