I saw her as Miss Adelaide (alongside Clarke Peters as Sky) and she was dreadful.

I'd imagine they'd mark one "To Sir" and the other "With Love," probably. Well as long as no-one ends up having a Boom Bang-A-Bang in them we should be alright. ...because it might make you want to Shout!

Interesting to see Ashley Day moving across from the "other" big dance musical (An American In Paris) to this. I thought his dancing was a bit weak in An American In Paris, but his voice is strong. It's also a difficult comparison when the other two people I saw in that role were trained ballet dancers.
I see Alyn Hawke is transferring between the shows as well. He went on as cover for two of the three male leads in AMIP and was good when I saw him (and I believe also covered the lead in the Top Hat tour a few years back). Could easily be a cover for Billy.
Lulu can still sing and it's not the most demanding role from a dancing or acting point of view. Should be a good choice to sell tickets. I think she's better known than Sheena Easton for the tourist demographic drawn to this sort of show.
The show should all be in safe hands.

I've just checked all my Top Hat programmes & he was in the ensemble for the first tour, at the Aldwych & the 2nd tour and was dance captain for the 2nd tour but he's never listed as understudying Jerry Travers.

He definitely did go on for Jerry, remember seeing it on Twitter. Could have been during the Japan run.

The mists of time tell me yes...

He went on 2 July 2015 apparently (remembered reading it, so just checked his Twitter). Might be the only time, although there's not much information about the Japan run. Hadn't realised he also did the Paris run of 42nd Street.

I know there was a lot of understudying during the second half of the London run, because Gavin Lee missed a lot of shows (can't remember what he damaged at the start of his run but something), so it doesn't surprise me that it got down to the 3rd cover. I guess that's often the case with dance-heavy shows - trying to drag this back to 42nd Street!

My understanding is yes he is staying. Good, I've developed a bit of a guilty crush on him. Oh did I say that out loud?! 😁 He's such a DILF.

I saw it for the second time last week. This time from the famous A0 and A1 (I politely allowed my long-legged partner to take the seat with better legroom). It's just as fab as it was the first time I saw it. I don't think we had any understudies (Stuart was on for Billy - first time I saw it it was Philip for Billy). The seats were great, although I had to sit with me lower body twisted at an angle. From A0 you get a great view of the orchestra pit and Jay's smiley face. He's having so much fun conducting it. We stayed until the orchestra finished playing the exit and after another round of applause someone shouted from the balcony "Jay! We love you!" So sweet.

I also saw this again recently, this time from A01. To me this seat is slightly worse than A23 and A24 - I may be wrong, but I think a little more things happen on the other side of the stage. The musical is pure brilliance to me and I must say that I enjoy it much much more than I expected before the first visit. I plan to see at at least one more time before it closes - oh, how sad this day will be! Btw. Cześć Michał

Having sat three or four times on both ends of A row, 23 and 24 definitely have a better view of everything on the stage than 0 and 1, where there are occasional obstructions, but nothing serious. And I agree with michalnowicki that one of the joys of sitting at either end of A row is watching Jae Alexander having such fun conducting the fabulous orchestra. I saw Andy Massey (I think) conducting once and he was fine musically but didn't twinkle as well as Jae.

I concur. Having sat in both A1 and A23 twice, A23 is better for this particular production. I think A1 is thought to have slightly better legroom, but I didn't notice much difference.
Who will it have been conducting a Wednesday matinee in early February? I don't want to be rude, but he didn't have a single hair on his head. He certainly twinkled when he was under the spotlight!

There is a bald conductor who's name slips me. it is not Jae Alexander or Andy Massey. Will try and find out unless anyone else knows?

Lulu is on The One Show tomorrow evening presumably talking about 42nd Street.

Last Thursday evening had Gabrielle Lewis-Dodson on as Peggy and Greg Bernstein on as Bert. Both were also on together the very first time I saw this.
Sam Murphy was on as Mac/Doc/Thug.
The show seems to work well with any cast combination, although I do prefer Christopher Howell as Bert (Greg Bernstein just looks young and doesn't overact the way the role needs).
Was sat at the side stalls and hadn't realised how many non-English speakers this show attracts. I wonder if it's marketed to them as being accessible? Unfortunately some chatting and one girl who was bored stiff and continually staring at her phone (dimmed screen and I was sat slightly too far away to do anything, but it was noticeable).
Will be a shame to see many of the ensemble leave shortly, especially those who make an effort to smile throughout. Will miss Eddie Myles, who always draws the eye.

I finally got to see this on Wednesday night, after wanting to go since it started, and I absolutely loved it. I want to be in it! I used to do tap as a teenager, and started adult tap in September, so it was great to look out for some steps I might just about be able to do if I hid at the back where I wouldn't be seen! I was sat towards the end of the third row which was great for watching the tapping - in the ensemble numbers I focused on the feet of the person right in front of me.
I've seen a couple of amateur versions of the show before, which I've really enjoyed, but not the WE version. Wow, it really is a fab production, especially the sequence down the stairs at the end. (I wanted to give a standing ovation then!) I was pleased Tom Lister was on, as I'd enjoyed the clip of him at the Royal Variety, and I thought he was great throughout the show, I'm pleased to see he's staying on after cast change. In fact all the cast were fab.
The ballet sequence was a nice surprise (we also do a bit of ballet before our tap class) as I'd forgotten there was ballet in this show, and I thought the sequence with the mirror was fantastic! I was wanting to tap in the aisles at the end, but that was easier said than done wearing trainers cos of the snow!
I love the story, it's such a feelgood show. My mum wants to go again to see Lulu, and I just want to go again anyway, so we're now planning our next trip. I see Lulu isn't in it for that long, so we'll have to see if we can fit it in around my uni revision. This is definitely my favourite show currently in the WE.
I'd never been to this theatre before, which I'm quite surprised about as I try and see a lot of shows in town and have been to many of the theatres. So that's another one ticked off the list.

Finally seeing this again tonight! Haven't been since the beginning of April, when it was still in previews, even though I've been saying I want to return. Managed to get myself a cheap front row ticket thanks to TodayTix, so glad I'm getting round to going again before this cast leave.

Why did I leave it so long before seeing this show again! I mean the opening sequence, ‘We’re in the Money’, the staircase! Definitely won’t be leaving it so long before I return. Glad to hear Clare is staying, forgot just how much of a star she really is in this
