If they didn't email the cast then poor form, but did they really expect it would open earlier? Surely nobody can expect their show to reopen until next year

Reading the comments on this forum, many many people do. I'm not sure what comments you've been reading as that isn't the case - people are discussing how theatres might open, but no-one is assuming the majority will be this year...

Presumably (and unfortunately) they will also have to recast when this returns. People will have aged in the interim period and they tend to cast Evan young. A shame for all the actors who unknowingly gave their final performance with no fanfare (in this show and many others).

I’d hope the cast who want to return get at least a short contract back. Will surely be easier than recasting the whole thing right away

Yes if the show was Matilda and you were talking about the kids- but not the adults in this cast.. and I’m including the ‘young’ cast in this.

If they didn't email the cast then poor form, but did they really expect it would open earlier? They found out via social media AFTER everybody else had received emails and it had gone to the press etc. They have had zero communication from those above them. From what I've heard, they never expected it to return in 2020. Their upset is purely over the lack of communication and respect from those they are hired by! If I were them I'd be outraged. They pour their heart and soul into this show and don't even get told when they are returning...

Just awful. Unfortunately not new in the industry though; this happened even before coronavirus.

Just awful. Unfortunately not new in the industry though; this happened even before coronavirus. Difference between Mormon and Hansen is that the Mormon tweets were based on emails sent to customers, whereas WOS had a statement given to them from the PR...feel like it would have taken minimal effort to inform the DEH team if they can write an actual statement!

According to The Stage article the producers haven't (yet) announced anything despite the WOS article. Indeed there's nothing on any of the show's social media channels.

I knew very little about this show until recently hearing two of the songs on the Oliviers and Jane MacDonald (last night) and deciding I really like them. I've now looked into the show in more detail and think it sounds like just my thing, so I might try and see it sometime. Hopefully it may tour at some point.

Maybe it's because a newer version with some bonus tracks has been released, but the original cast recording can now be bought on both of the main internet shopping sites for less than £3.
At that price, it's not worth not buying a copy!

Is that your For Forever decision, BurlyBeaR? Good for You for sticking to your guns, but maybe one day You Will Be Found to be wrong. When the postman delivers my cut-price CD, I'll be able to thank him by Waving Through a Window. You can't do that when you live in a luxury loft apartment tastefully decorated in grey and teal. 🤣

Part Of Me would like to say Words Fail TallPaul, however instead I’ll try to shed A Little Bit Of Light on my musical tastes by saying that bleating teens with their Only Us attitudes can just do one and Disappear! Sincerely, Me.

Now I don't want your head to become So Big, BurlyBeaR, but that is genuinely a work of genius. Have you spent all day working on it in your home office, the one In the Bedroom Down the Hall? By including bonus tracks and cut songs, it's Obvious that you're actually a much bigger fan than you're prepared to admit. This is a safe space, so no more Hiding...
