And the Gary Coleman character in the US is placed by a woman, in the UK played by a man. This isn't always true - on the 2016 Selladoor tour it was definitely a female Gary Coleman.

For the West End run, Gary Coleman was played by a man, as is the case in the current Selladoor tour, but Selladoor have used female actors as well. The current cover Gary Coleman is female.

There appears to be some premium and 2nd row stalls availability all of a sudden.

Yes,odd blocks of three or four seats keep popping up on various dates...randomly often in stalls g,m and n for some reason...all at £124 per ticket...very few single seats in upper tiers.

Very keen to see this now that more tickets are being released. This is exciting. Does anyone know what the schedule is for the alternate Evan as I’d ideally like to see Sam Tutty in the role although I’m sure Marcus too would be amazing. Debating between a Monday or Tuesday evening show

Debating between a Monday or Tuesday evening show If you want to guarantee to see Sam, I'd probably recommend going for a Friday night or Saturday night. The other option is to wait for the schedule and then either hope more tickets are released or go an hour before curtain, around 6:30pm. I have had luck in the past with returns, especially during previews or early in the run.

I do have a seating preference and would still like to sit in the front stalls which is the thing. I might just test my luck though and see who I end up with. Whats the Broadway schedule usually like?

Anyone else spotted themselves on the show poster after entering the competition? I thought we'd get an email or something if we'd been chosen, but just spotted my face on one of the show posters that are popping up! I KNEW I'd have my name (well, face) in lights someday.

Sam answered a fan question about if he’ll be doing 8 shows a week saying it’s both the matinees he’ll be taking off.

Sam answered a fan question about if he’ll be doing 8 shows a week saying it’s both the matinees he’ll be taking off. Why can’t people do 8 shows a week anymore? He’s been trained to do that and once the score is vocally set in his mind/body/voice box he will be fine. Drama school students belt their lungs out for 10 hours a day!

Drama school students belt their lungs out for 10 hours a day! Firstly, anymore? Alternates in demanding roles have been a thing for quite a while. Secondly, singing the score is not the sole reason the role of Evan Hansen has an alternate.

Walked past the back of the Noel Coward yesterday and the doors were open as they were moving stuff in/out. Quite surprised to be able to see straight through to the auditorium.

Why shouldn't they have alternates? Give two people a chance in the role and help preserve both of them (vocals and energy wise) for longer so they aren't damaging their careers long-term. It makes complete sense in more ways than one.

Ben Platt originally didn’t have an alternate but it became too much. The role is extremely demanding so not surprising to have an alternate.

I suppose I’m old school and energy wise 8 shows a week was/is simply expected. I agree with the limelight of role sharing like Dreamgirls! Very excited to see this!

I think it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other. Yes, somebody who is professionally trained in that field should be able to sing a demanding score 8 times a week without damage to their ‘instrument’ because that is what they have trained to do. However, the mental and emotional demands of this script and story are most likely the reason for an alternate. It can’t be an easy journey to go on so often...

It is also a good way to sell more tickets at higher prices. As with (say) Luke Bayer in Everybody's Talking About Jamie, there are people who book as they're a fan of the alternate, as well as people who will go back multiple times to compare the different performances of the lead.

That thought occured to me, too. I'm sure that it plays a part in the on-going Six hysteria, as the fans will be trying to not only see each alternate/understudy Queen, but also all sorts of different combinations of Queens on stage. There certainly is little reason why each Queen needs an alternate performer considering the whole show is only 75 mins long!

Also men playing JVJ are older and likely to be more experienced, Evan is a younger role so these boys are at the beginning of their careers so safer from a personal perspective but also a production perspective to offer them a lighter schedule in turn for higher quality performances.

Very excited to see this! How old-school? Before Evita? Christine Daae? Plenty of roles in shows that opened before most Evans were born include leads with an alternate. It's nice to have a lead not sound shredded, even if audiences MUST suffer and endure SLIGHT uncertainty as to who they're going to see.
