Not sure if anyone else thought this but to me it sounds as if the leads are all rushing to get out of the theatre too! Never mind the tunes, but the pacing is totally off too.
Christ almighty.. what were they thinking?

Really! Please! I agree with all your post except the quote above which seems to imply that Sarah may be having some sort of mental health problem. There is absolutely nothing to suggest this and I think it's a huge leap to say that. I'm not making any leap to conjecture how Sarah Harding is feeling - how would I know? - though I hope she's laughing this off and aiming for more appreciation as things bed down in the production. But I do know what I feel about duty of care and ethics in (show) business. No, you made a huge leap by bringing the whole mental health thing into the discussion. Her mental health is not in question and was not in question before you mentioned it. Let's leave it at that.

As soon as I heard the bad reviews, my first thought was 'I hope she's strong enough to deal with all this.' That's how I read max's post. Not that she already has mental health issues but that this sort of public reaction to her could lead to trouble down the line. I know it would affect me in that way - in fact it already did, albeit not in a musical theatre environment (I won't go into further details, but let's just say, nearly five years later it still has a terrible affect on my day to day life). (I can't read the linked article as for some reason it's not working for me, so I can't see what it brings to the discussion and if it would change my opinion of what max said.)

I can't help but wonder what it will take for Kenwright to pull this in & sort it out. By the sounds of the press that was done it sounds like they had a broken fortnight to rehearse it and they have chosen the worst possible place to open. Somebody save it please....

She hadn't learned the script, she hadn't practised the songs to actually know the melody, nevermind the notes, she clearly hadn't thought about the character's actions or thoughts, and I could go on. She didn't seem to care in the slightest that people were paying to see her, so I don't really see that she could care that people aren't happy with that.

What I'm disappointed about is that a really good musical of a hugely popular film is having its reputation tarnished because Kenwright is looking for a quick buck. Audiences are unlikely to see it again in the future, based on what I've read (I haven't seen it) and that is a huge shame because as far as modern musicals ago, this is one of the good ones. Exactly... I would have loved to see Ghost come back when it was ready, when it could have been done properly; I loved it in London. But now people will have the wrong idea... imagine seeing this the first time with these two leads... it's ruining a legacy. You'd often see in the past the creatives behind certain musicals would veto certain decisions to protect their work... I'm guessing Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard etc were far away from this.

I don't agree about the thick skin argument at all. This is completely different to what she will have experienced before. She will never have experienced people laughing at her singing before (not openly and instantly anyway).

Really surprised that an Admin plays the trump card "Let's leave it at that" to close me down, knowing any response (i.e. this one) looks petty from me. I thought we were here in a conversation and able to add to our original point if something's been mis or over-interpreted - rather than here to 'win'.

Oh I know @kevinuk, but on the whole there is a lot more distance between a popstar and their audience and a Musical Theatre performer and theirs. I hope you're right about her having a thick skin though.

I enjoyed the West End production a lot. Apart from one or two pretty songs and some impressive end of Act 1 choral power the score was a bit bland, but.... I thoroughly enjoyed it, because the Illusions were the uplift and sensation that songs usually provide in a musical. I can't see it being a strong piece without them whoever's in the cast.

Sarah Harding is probably the worst singer I've ever heard live. She wouldn't make it through the room auditions in X Factor. She's probably the worst actress I've ever seen live. I mean OK, I spent 2 hours and 30 mins suppressing laughter at the entire thing, but then you stop and you get a bit angry. Not at Sarah but at the fact that she was given this bloody job. My mind completely and utterly boggles. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! She completely forgot lines in songs and just left silence of the band, and apparently both Sarah and Andy completely paraphrase the entire script. Never the same each night.
Andy Moss strains through the show as if he's doing a one-night-only concert. Some of the notes he attempted to hit were just horrific. Currently listening to the OLC to wipe my memory. Accents from the entire cast are a bit dodge. It's all very young and inexperienced. Shockingly bad direction and produced with no effort to make the show strong where it desperately needs to be. You simply cannot produce Ghost on a shoe-string budget and the fact that Kenwright has is an insult to all theatre. Band very good, I thought. There is a press night, on Tuesday. I'd expect to see understudies appearing from Wednesday onwards.
"Illusions" - are they allowed to be called that?? Goodness, gracious me. Thought I was watching Spamalot or something. Sam first goes completely through the door, followed by a minute of that set piece getting stuck whilst being pulled off-stage, shaking forwards and backwards as the next scene carries on.
If this was "Ghost: The Musical Comedy" - 5*

At 2.13 he's miles away from the note, and it takes a full second for him to slide up there.
It makes you wonder what they sang in their auditions to actually get the parts?

Indeed there was a very last minute change to the line up for the Les Mis 25th anniversary concert - sadly though it didn't extend to Nick Jonas too.

It makes you wonder if whoever cast them had actually ever seen the show, read the script, or looked at the music. Inexcusable when there's a cast CD, they have their own youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/ghostthemusical/videos, and there's Siobhan Dillon on a disc and youtube doing it even better.
