Whilst talking about the cast is fine... what I want to know is who's done the illusion design? No one is listed on the website... that's a worry.

That will be exactly why I wouldn't go. Spoilt by Levy and Trehearn previously, why on earth would you want the luncheon meat of Harding when you'd had Fillet steak before?

I thought I had heard somewhere (maybe on this board!) that they were trying to side-step the illusion stuff by making this version all about the story, the characters, the music, the lyrics......

No I didn't say that but I just said it could be a factor. Of course I'm not saying the reason it hasn't sold is because people are on holiday hence why I said be interesting to see how it sells later on in the tour. I don't think people would not go and see a show they liked just because they didn't like who was in it though..?? Mmm I wouldn't be too sure of that lovely, if you have read any of the social media feedback surrounding this production, it is pretty much a trainwreck. It is a rare time where the casting has actually turned people away from the production. Maybe some theatre lovers are put off by this but I don't think the general public would be. If Ghost was your favourite show ever, would you really not go and see the tour just because you didn't like the leading lady? I have no problem with Sarah Harding and would give her a go but Ghost simply isn't a show I am interested in. Also remember that this show went on sale long before casting was announced so people probably booked then too?

I think I remember hearing that too, but surely there has to be some form of illusion for stuff like the letter, the door, Sam's death, the finale etc?
I can imagine this being a simple set though, and I don't think a lot of the shows admirers will like that. Considering the visuals were quite positively received first time around.

I think yes, casting can be a problem for some, especially after her trainwreck performance on one of the biggest TV shows in the UK. I am a big fan of Girls Aloud and am to intrigued by Sarah's performance, but it definitely hasn't helped in terms of sales, I think it has more hindered it. The creative team should be grateful they have only got her until December in complete honesty as it may save the finances put into this show.

I wonder how many of the general public, or indeed more frequent theatre goers, would describe Ghost as their "favourite show ever"? I suspect you would have room to fit everyone in that category around an iconic pottery wheel.

The set is pretty much the only thing I can remember about it! The songs certainly didn't register with me. There are many ways of doing illusions and you could even say that the original version "cheated" a bit by having such a hi-tech set. I love all of the old stagecraft stuff, the gauze screens, trapdoors etc. It could be really good if it's done with some imagination and panache*, if it is then I really don't mind not having huge LED walls to be honest. *the leap onto the subway train is going to be interesting though!

Never know, without the gauze, maybe after Unchained Melody, maybe they will go all out and have the sex scene live on stage!

If Ghost was your favourite show ever, would you really not go and see the tour just because you didn't like the leading lady? Emma Hatton, Brian Sears and Dean John Wilson have put me off seeing Wicked, Book of Mormon and Aladdin, respectively - and I love these shows. So yes, the casting of Sarah Harding alone makes me not go see Ghost (not that it's one of my all-time favourite shows).

Their official facebook page is releasing Cast bios yesterday and today. Confirmed (for anyone who wants to dodge Sarah like the plague) that Kelly Hampson is 1st Cover Molly and Lauren Drew is 2nd Cover Molly.

Also, we can look at them as potentials to take over in January!

Add me to the list of people being cast in shows I like putting me off seeing them. I'd just keep a keen eye on cast holiday dates. @westendlover why would you fork out money to see someone you're not a fan of, especially in a musical?

If there's a show I've not seen I don't really mind who is in the cast. If I've seen the show before though the cast would definitely be the decider if I saw it again...

I totally agree with that! If there's some people who haven't seen Ghost before but are desperate to see it, I doubt they wouldn't go for the simple fact they don't want to see a leading lady.
