I think the Ghost bods have shot themselves in the foot with this. Yes, the announcement got them loads of publicity, but there has been quite a bit of negative reaction to it. It would have been a good idea to release a video of Sarah singing one of Molly's songs, along with the announcement (to basically show that she can actually sing). I'd have preferred that to the publicity pic, which is one of the most unsexy things I've ever seen!
It does still seem like completely random casting to me. Either Sarah was their 157th choice, or Alan Partridge was in charge of casting (in which case, look out for a scene featuring tennis playing monkeys, and Chris Eubank as Oda Mae!).

Well, I have booked tickets for this at Wimbledon theatre. I wouldn't have paid full price but got a good offer with my ATG card: £15.50 Front Stalls.
Don't shoot me but I'm relieved that Sabrina Alouche hasn't been cast. I know some people here adore her but I was very disappointed with her performances in both We Will Rock You and Rent.

I can understand wanting to get people to buy tickets, but word of mouth will be poor if the production is rubbish!

I'm interested to see what people think of Sarah in this role, I remember those clips from her Corrie stint.

The only one who should stick to musical theatre (in my honest opinion) is Kimberley. I have enjoyed both things she has been in, she can stick around. Cheryl is obviously the most popular and famous, and with her now dating one of One Direction she will no doubt use that platform further with music and her overall fame (which I have no problem with, as I like Cheryl and her music a lot!). Nicola has had success in beauty and fashion. She has also had a lot of success at song writing and her debut album was hugely acclaimed so she can stick to that department. Nadine has disappeared off the face of the planet after doing Lord of the Dance.
And Sarah... I just don't think musical theatre is the best direction for her. Trouble is, I don't know what else she would be good at in all honesty, outside of the band. That coming from a huge Girls Aloud fan!

Have been looking forward to this for months. My friend and I had tickets booked for Manchester in October since the day they went on sale. Between the original Manchester run, London and the 1st UK tour, we have seen it 6 times. It's my friends absolute favourite musical, and she always said she wouldn't care who was cast, but when I told her the initial cast announcment, her exact response was "Oh no no no".
But we have both agreed to give it a chance. Who knows, Sarah Harding may surprise us.

She has a very limited vocal range is the troube. She always vcame across to me as the Victoria of the group (who is also my favorite Spice Girl!). The one who looks stunning but has the limited voice. So them keys will need to come down in order for this to even work in the first place. I feel this score is going to sound very different.
Interesting that alot of people have stuff to say about Sarah but no one is talking about the male lead? Has he been in stuff before. He was great in Hollyoaks!

Someone in a facebook group keeps saying he trained in musical theatre before he got into TV and on his wikipedia it says he got a national diploma in musical theatre from 'Sheena Simon College' which I think is the Arden School of Theatre (correct me if I'm wrong!). No idea if he's done any professional musical theatre before, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now because I also loved him in Hollyoaks. His character's death episode was great. Hilariously OTT, but great!  |

When this premiered in Manchester, it felt like it was the launch of a smash hit new musical - a real sense of spectacle, 'house full' sign up most evenings, full standing ovations, rave reviews etc. Then it transferred to London, the reviews were lukewarm and the show seems to have been on a downwards trajectory ever since. I hope Sarah Harding proves the majority of us wrong or otherwise it may be the final nail in Ghost's coffin.

Girls Aloud had songs that worked to their members vocal abilities (pop songs afterall), but Sarah is easily the 2nd strongest vocalist after Nadine - Sarah can deliver and is absolutely not the Victoria of the band (Kimberley obviously was - she was always over looked). The only saving grace in all this is that she'll have probably auditioned and sang With You to prove she can do it. I'd say that Nadine and Nicola are the strongest vocalists. Sarah is average. Nadine has the strongest voice, Nicola is very underrated, Kimberley acquitted herself pretty well in Elf and Shrek, Cheryl's vocals are okay, which leaves Sarah as the weakest singer of the five in my opinion. The funniest thing about this casting is how many of us seem to be Girls Aloud fans on the quiet (or at least too knowledgeable to make any denials of interest rather hollow!). |
