Upper respiratory infection.. sure!
Though I suppose the stress of this situation must wreak havoc with one's immune system.

I do feel sorry for Sarah. TPTB should have seen how unfit she was for the role during rehearsals, and never allowed the situation to get this far. Incidentally, when is Press Night? Tomorrow night!! That's going to be interesting, then!

They'll have the understudy on and then will they use quotes from reviews of her for the poster?

She won't be coming back.
However it wasn't just Sarah Harding that was terrible the production as a whole is pallid.

I would much rather see Siobhan Dillon back as Molly, but then again she'd be wasted on this production.

I'd rather watch Siobhan write a shopping list than watch this production in it's current state!

Sounds like it... TOTAL FLOP.
I called the theatre demanding my money back - they said no.

For those feeling sorry for Sarah, I will just repeat, she didn't even bother to learn the part.
She couldn't be bothered to put even a little bit of time and effort into the job she was being paid to do, and actually learn her lines. She obviously didn't think it was important to not be crap in front of a paying audience, so shouldn't really be surprised by the response. She should have thought about that earlier and at least learnt the script. (If there is actual bullying going on directly to her, I don't condone that.)

I don't think you can really speak on Sarah's behalf like that. Unless of course you have some inside info.

I don't think you can really speak on Sarah's behalf like that. Unless of course you have some inside info. I'm not speaking on her behalf. Her job is to play a character, saying the lines and singing the songs. She didn't even bother to learn them, nevermind think about how the character would say certain things, or act in situations. She hadn't even done the bare minimum required of her, that clearly shows she didn't put any effort in to try and be good.

You have no idea what she did and didn't bother to do. She may have struggled to learn the lines and songs and if she wasn't ready, the producers shouldn't have let her go on.

I don't think you can really speak on Sarah's behalf like that. Unless of course you have some inside info. I daresay the 'inside info' was her own eyes and ears from seeing the show. 3 nights in and she was singing 'I know that I can't deal with this pain' (line: I know that I can't live in this pain) in With You. Also, 'everywhere we ever walked and everywhere we talked'. (line: every place we ever walked..) Also Suspend My Disbelief in the dialogue: 'It's something only the pair of us would know' (line: it's something no-one would know). They've cut all the challenging notes out of the song so there's barely a melody to learn; she could at least learn the words properly. If you're making that many mistakes as well as swallowing/rushing all the dialogue as well as horrible 'pop-star' affections while singing as well as wooden 'acting' as well as not actually being able to hit the money notes... you're not fit for the part. Well, as we all know. If Kelly (u/s) is still on next week I'll give it a go as last night's audios, Andy didn't sound too bad at all. No worse than Stewart from the last UK tour who I didn't warm to particularly.

I have eyes and ears, and that was all I needed, it was really, really clear from her 'performance'. If she comes back, please go and see the show, and then try to continue to say she tried her best. You haven't seen it, so have no idea how bad it was. If she really was completely incapable of learning lines, something a 6 year old can do, and really has no idea that someone dying would make you sad, she should have pulled out.

Unless your eyes and ears give you psychic powers to see behind the scenes, all you are stating is an opinion, not a fact.
I don't want to see it; I hate the show. As I said, maybe her best just isn't good enough. It could just be that. You're determined to put all the blame on her, so I won't bother continuing going round in circles with you. You might be right, I might be right, we will never know.

You might be right, I might be right, we will never know. I'm definitely not putting all the blame on her, I've said that I think the whole production is awful, and getting rid of her won't fix it, in fact I said the director was the most to blame. But when it comes to her personally being awful, that's down to her. She should not have been offered the role, so the producers are to blame for that, yes, but since she decided to take it, she's responsible for her own performance. I have seen thousands of shows, and her performance is worse than anything I've seen, including some very bad amateur performances I've sat through. But I do actually agree with you entirely that the producers should not have allowed her to go on, whether this is her best or not, and said just that in my complaint to ATG. At the end of the day, that's actually all it comes down to. The producers should never have allowed the production to go ahead in it's current state, and I'm not just talking about Sarah. It is possible that she does genuinely believe she's good and therefore thinks she's trying her best (if you had seen it, you would understand why I find it really hard to believe that, but at the same time would she really have gone on if she did know how bad she is), in which case someone who cares about her should have stepped in to try and save her from all this. If this is her being fired, I actually hope this illness is the producers at least allowing her some dignity by not firing her publicly, but if that is the case, I hope she realises this time that she shouldn't ever take another acting job.

I've no reason to defend her and I think she bears responsibility for accepting the role, as much as BK Bears it for casting her. BUT she is not an actress. The acting she's done so far has been recorded so I think learning an entire script, songs abd stage direction must have been a massive challenge for her as it would be to anyone. I couldn't do that within a few weeks. Shes been put put in a very bad position and if she backs out of it I don't blame her.

I was doing a BKL tour years ago and at the last minute our leading lady dropped out. They had to find a new "name" very quickly as the tour venues had apparently signed on the understanding there would be a name in the lead role. I should think they'll be a few theatres on the phone to Bill tomorrow asking what's up, and whether she'll be back.
Chances are they'll have to replace her, as there's no way they can teach her to sing and act in the next few days. Surely nobody believes this "upper respiratory tract infection" cobblers? Why hasn't Andy Moss got it too then, as they've had to kiss many times over the last few weeks.

It is very surprising after her appearance on Coronation Street where she was slated that she would go for a much more exposing form with live acting and singing. Either she surrounds herself with yes people or is overly confident in her abilities.
I really don't know what the producers were thinking - not many people thought she was capable of this but it would've been great if she'd proved us wrong. I'm not a fan of Girls Aloud and found her really annoying on The Jump but it's not nice to anyone have this happen to them.
I hope you're right about the illness being her way of getting out and saving a bit of face.

If at any point she actually told the producers she couldn't do it, and wasn't allowed to leave (which of course we'll never actually know) then I take back everything I've said and would then genuinely feel bad for her, but if she went ahead knowingly, that's different. (But I have had 6 year olds learn this many lines and remember their directions, for a school performance, not a paying audience)

Ok so here's the plan.
Sarah backs out of the role, handing over to lesser known alternate with lots of media "I couldn't cheat the fans/I made a mistake/I love theatre so much"
The public goes mad for this, Sarah is so real, she really cares right?
Then we get a new reality tv show charting how SH goes to back to school to learn how to be a MT actress. Lots of cameo appearances from people like Kimberley Walsh coaching her, Jason Donovan, that one out of Atomic Kitten etc.
Season 1 culminates in announcement that Sarah got the lead in a new production of Legally Blonde.
If Sarah's agent is reading this, you're welcome love. Have this one on me.

I'm not surprised she's pulled out tonight. No one could take a pounding in the media like that and not be affected by it.
I hope Kelly has a great debut tonight.

Maybe I'm just being soft (me down to a 't') but I do feel quite sorry for her, because despite whether what is being said is right or wrong, it still must be a massive knock to read/hear what is being said. I bet the rest of the cast are all feeling rubbish about it all too for various reasons. It is a bit of a shame it's all come to this.

Saying that and what I have said so far, I am really glad I have seen this on Saturday.
How terrible Sarah was and that seems to be a matter of fact now - it is a timely reminder how great our stage artists really are, how much effort, energy and time they invest in making their parts believable. I feel this can be easily taken for granted and that includes me, so it is a great wake up call and reminds me to appreciate our artists a lot more, for what they are and that is accomplished actors of the highest calibre.

Think about it from her perspective - she's desperate to be an actor, she's not getting any work, someone encouraging comes along and offers you a national tour in a well-known show - would you say no? even if in your heart of hearts you knew you weren't up to scratch?
