Broadway transfer from the last 10 years. The news should be out soon though (cause they'll need to start selling tickets!) Fingers crossed for Next to Normal (more or less within the last 10 years). 🤞 If it were Next to Normal I would 100% be screaming it from the rooftops!

Can you please just answer this...is it a musical or a play? It's confirmed above to be a musical. Another vote for Something Rotten here please. Or I'd be happy with Anastasia too. Can't think of many other recent Broadway transfers it could be.

War Paint or Bandstand?
Both would be a good fit for the Savoy crowd and a bit unexpected.
Neither are very good either which would also fit his description lol

Elena Skye as Janis would be perfect casting, and the more I think about this, the more I want it to happen

This is a show that will 100% come to London, but i'd say unlikely until Autumn 2022 or even later now. I saw it 4 times in New York, including the day before the shutdown - it's a great fun show.

The West End isn't gonna have new original musicals for ages - it'll be film/book adaptations and revivals for a good 2-3 years I'd guess.
Fairly sure we'll get it here (the wheels were certainly in motion pre pandemic). Late 2022 at the earliest.

Agreed this is going to do so well over here and it’s a well known film over here uk audiences are going to love it.

I was thinking late 2022 as well we will have to wait and see how boy in the dress does at the savoy so it can go in there as the savoy will be perfect for this show 😊

I saw twice in New York, and it is an insanely enjoyable show, with a great book by Tina Frey.
Sonia Friedman being a key producer on this it certainly will come over.
I could see the show doing well in the West End, but doing better on their and going out several times, just like Legally Blonde did.
However when theatre does reopen and producers not going to rush to get show in dark theatres initially more concentrating on getting their current shows up and running. However I could see this sliding neatly into the Savoy, if Dirty Dancing doesn’t move there first.

To be honest though the West End is all film/book adaptations and revivals anyway and it's rare to see a completely original musical at the best of times.

Also They could stunt cast the teachers for mean girls and give the celebs limited runs

God help the West End if Boy in the Dress does come in...the most I have ever hated a musical. Even more than DEH

Covid killed Mean Girls on Broadway and it did the same for Boy in a Dress in the West End, as others have said the West End transfer to the Savoy was cancelled due to the pandemic However what I could see happening is that it might transfer at the end of the year to the Barbican, as the RST has no season to put into the Barbican this year and the RST are the producers of The Boy in the Dress.
Also you have to consider the bread and butter for musicals are tourists, this is going to recover very slowly, especially as tourists will now need a negative test.
When I saw The Boy in the Dress at Stratford, it needed a lot of work for the book and score, it is so hazy for me seeing it, that’s not a good sign.

However, with the requirement also being for Brits to have one to go abroad, and also to return, I can see many being put off going abroad and choosing to have "staycations" here in the UK. Theatre has had a fair bit of exposure and I certainly think a lot more locals will be making trips to the theatre once they reopen.

I couldn’t see much point in having a Covid test before you arrive here, especially as Covid is rampant and out of control, however when Grant Shapps said it was to protect the UK from the South African variant it made perfect sense.
I agree there will be more staycations, not sure if people will spend this in London though, they might do a break rather than holidays. Demand will be high to rent a cottages, so owners will put their prices up and with people walking around in June with an umbrella, they be chomping at the bit to get back to Majorca. Also the weak pound will ensure people will stay at home or have less holidays than before.
I couldn’t envisage people going on a cruise for a fair bit.
