Guys and Dolls is like the Hamlet of musicals, it's always done in some shape or form.

Last seen at the Crucible just 19 years ago Christmas 2000 with a “blistering performance” by Tracie Bennett as Miss Adelaide

I'm really hoping the current Paris production transfers over.

I remember that Crucible production - Tracie Bennett was great! I will wait for casting on this one, its a musical I have never really got on with despite seeing some stellar performances. Maybe I should put this in the unpopular opinions thread!

Hopefully they put back the Cuba scene and get someone better than Jason Manfred for Nathan. I really think that he was too comical.

Very much looking forward to this. Guys and Dolls is one of my favourites.
From tomorrow, Sheffield Theatres is launching a season ticket when three or more shows are booked at the same time, so, for example, Life of Pi, Guys and Dolls and Everybody's Talking About Jamie.

Am all for idea of season tickets if it a) provides theatres with guaranteed money up front and b)gets the regular theatre-goer a good discount for ‘buying in bulk’

Public booking opened this morning. Long queue at the physical box office, and an even longer one online. I should be pleased, but even I had to wait my turn! Do they not know who I am? Did you get what you wanted, FrontroverPaul ? Barring a legal challenge, the Midland Main Line will have a new operator by the time of your visit. Apart from maybe a new livery, I'm not sure too much will change in the first few months.

Then decided wanted to book other tickets and ended up in 1000 people queue! Oh well got my usual date and seat so all happy here

I too have booked the front row, for New Year's Eve, and on the opposite side for the last night.
I've told this story before, but on a previous last night I was at, Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat was reprised something like 10 times, so fingers crossed. 🤞

I will head up to Sheffield for my mini Xmas theatre trip, with this and West Side Story at Leicester Curve, you have the 2 of the greatest musical among theatre fans, the other being My Fair Lady, looked at Manchester and the Royal Exchange haven’t confirmed their show yet, but if it is anything like The Producers last year, you be in for a treat. Not interested in The Bodyguard at the Palace, but might see The Grinch at the Lowry, one of my favourite theatres in the country. The Wizard of Oz is on at the Leeds Playhouse, could also swerve on this one. Other than those 5 theatres, Pantomime is in the rest, unfortunately!

I had to leave this morning before 10 am as I had two shows booked several hours away travelling by public transport ( Abingdon and Didcot - from Kent). Only got home at 1.15am ! Just booked now and could still get the date and matinee I wanted Decided on a front row £15 side view cheapie though could have had a £40 central front row seat.

Do you know if there is a charge for the season ticket? I've had lots of emails about it, but it always says to ring or contact the box office for details. Probably no use to me now though as I've already booked Guys and Dolls and Jamie (and two out of three ain't enough ;-) )

No, as far as I know, grannyjx6, there is no charge, though I assume full payment is taken upfront. I did give it some thought, until I read that it was only available on price bands A, B and C, so my £15 tickets wouldn't have been eligible anyway. And like you, I've only currently booked for Guys & Dolls and Jamie, partly for that reason. It's a good start, but I hope it will be refined and improved.

Darragh’s probably got his own tankard behind the crucible bar by now.
