I bet the renovations at the Noel Coward will be between 11th May and 6th July, then Dear Even Hansen can start straight after Iguana.

I've loved the couple Tennessee Williams plays I've seen and the brief synopsis I read plus these actors has me really intrigued. Definitely keeping my eye on this one (especially since it'll be on after exams for once! So much I want to see ends just before or during them and I've got to squeeze them all into my month long Easter holiday. It's a nightmare).

When at the beginning of the year, you get the ubiquitous thread on, what do you wish for, this one always makes my list, never seen it. So delighted at this announcement.

Going to be booking for this. The chance to see Lia Williams again on stage is not to be missed. Her performances in Mary Stuart and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie were both fantastic pieces of acting.

Dilemma...
Don't want to miss Williams but can't stand Clive Owen...

Rare revival of this particular Williams play. I saw the 90s production at the NT. Apparently Anthony Hopkins turned down the male lead, Alfred Molina played it. Never heard of Ms Gunn. Will prob go.

I saw the 2005 production with Woody Harrelson and Clare Higgins and really enjoyed i,t in spite of the spinster being played by Jenny Seagrove who was truly bad.

She won two Emmys for her role in a rather successful TV series called Breaking Bad.

Interesting to see the comments on this as 'rarely revived', my first thought on seeing the thread were 'Again?'. My mind may be playing tricks on me but seem to have seen this more than the two productions mentioned above with Molina and Harrelson. The first of which was rather good, the second not so much. Can anyone remember any other versions of this or am I finally sinking into complete mental disarray?

Including this production thats three London revivals in almost 30 years. Have to confess i have mo memory whatsoever of the Harrelson/Seagrove production even being on!

I could have sworn I saw it on Broadway not that long ago, but it turns out the production I'm thinking of was in 1996. Where does the time go? Anyway, the cast for that production included William Petersen, Cherry Jones (as Hannah), Marsha Mason (as Maxine), and Lawrence McCauley as Nonno.

www.theguardian.com/stage/2005/dec/06/theatre1Oh heavens! This was 14 years ago? Really enjoyed it. Not a great production but did the stuff. We saw this in the West End when we could see plays in the West End without mortgaging the children! We had a conversation about how lucky we had been to see The Inheritance for less than £40 (a part) which was I think quadrupled for its West End run.

I've seen what I guess are three out of the four Broadway productions - the William Petersen one; a 1988 revival with Nicolas Surovy (Rise Stevens's son, BTW) and Jane Alexander; and best of all, if we can trust teenaged me, a 1976 version with Richard Chamberlain, Dorothy McGuire and Sylvia Miles.
The play itself, IIRC, is all over the place. There are juicy characters and fraught confrontations galore, and of course that heightened, poetic Williams language, but I don't know if the whole thing ever really comes together.

I remember seeing this in the front row of the Lyric when the last West End revival was on. Don't imagine I will be able to afford that this time round!
Does anyone know where we can book tickets? I thought they were going on sale today, but I can't see where I'm supposed to get them from...

I might wait and see who else is cast before booking, those announced so far don't really excite me that much.

I don't mind the cast, but are these standard West End ticket prices for a play these days? I think I might have to declare myself officially priced out of the West End as a going concern and stick with the likes of the Nash, Vics Old and Young, Royal Court, Globe, and Almeida from now on.

Yeah, that's prohibitively expensive. I'll wait and hope for Rush tickets or the like
