Nice that the understudies are allowed to announce their dates. So many shows that won't let people know, which is such a shame!

I’ve got a front row day seat for tonight and am pleased I will be able to see Grace and see how she compares. I get the impression some people don’t rate her, but I’m not sure why? To me she always seems like she's on autopilot and gives off an air that she is slightly 'above it all'. She does what she's meant to do, but beyond that there not a lot going on. I'm sure she'll be different in a leading role and she is clearly very talented and from all reports a lovely girl, I just find her a little wishy washy. |

On a completely unrelated matter I just went to a Ted Baker Male Grooming salon in Bloomsbury to get a haircut and David Bedella was is the chair next to me.

No offence taken; we don’t all get the same ‘references’. I’m guessing Ted charges you more than £8 for that experience?

That’s a british expression Ant. It refers to the time when condoms were purchased at barber shops. Men would go to the barbers for a haircut and would be offered condoms under the guise of “something for the weekend?” it’s a bit old hat now. (Which is not a comment on the age of danb’s headwear) you going to see &Juliet anthony40? |

For those that are interested, I thought I’d feed back a few thoughts about Grace’s debut performance as Juliet yesterday. I saw Miriam at the opening night last week, so I can directly compare. I am not a fan girl and have not seen Grace or Miriam in any other shows btw!! contains spoilers below...
Overall, I felt Grace played a softer and less sassy Juliet, which for me, made the story make much more sense - I was disappointed that Miriam’s amazing sassy Juliet ended up going back to soppy old Romeo, I just couldn’t understand why she’d do that.
However, in contrast, I felt the connection between Grace’s Juliet and Romeo was far more tender & believable, which helped me accept that it was true love between them after all and they ought to be together.
I also felt that overall, Grace sang in tune more than Miriam did. I hate to say it as Miriam was epic, but some of Miriam’s big notes on the opening night were a bit off pitch, Grace had no such issues and her voice is a real powerhouse. However I thought Miriam sang Starting Over way better.
I also want to say that I think this is a terrific cast - supremely talented across the board Oliver, Cassidy, David, Melanie, Tim, Jordan all sensational - especially Tim(Francois - just bloody amazing acting and the best voice of the bunch alongside Jordans) and David(Lance - LMAO at his French characterisation, just superb) and Jordan (Romeo, what a talent, what a voice and what an amazing leather jacket!) The only slight weak link for me was the guy who played Mae, he sang very very loudly and ‘placed’ all his notes so carefully to the point it seemed like he was ‘honking’ more than singing the songs, it’s hard to explain, but he was the only one I didn’t super love. His acting was excellent though and I love the concept of Mae’s character and story.
The costumes and lighting for this show are to die for. I was on the front row last night and the costumes are just beautiful, no expense has been spared on them
another thought was that I wish they hadn’t played the show for laughs as much and focussed more on what is an amazing concept - what if Juliet doesn’t die? If they toned down the comedy just a tad and made the plot less silly, I think this could have been one of the best shows ever. Just my opinion of course.
I did have a fan girl moment during the boyband section - Oliver and David are hot!!. Whether you see Miriam or Grace as Juliet you’re in for a real treat.
I’d recommend this show, mainly due to the quality of the performances you’ll see, rather than the story of the show itself. Thanks all.

Are there day seats for this? Walk to box office for 10am? Not Online? I walked straight into the box office at 10:07 last week and got 2 tickets front row centre for £20 each Super thanks. But nowhere online? Ugh |

Since we have been on the topic of hair on this thread, I was row D on Monday and saw that David Bedella and Cassidy both had wig lines. So they seem to be wearing wigs that are basically the same as their hair.
Why on earth is this please and thank you?!?! Surely it would be easier to you know, just have their own hair on display? Rather than have a wig based on their own hair. Weird.
Anyway, leaving Cher like antics aside, was another great performance. Wonderful view from there. And MTL really is giving what should be an award winning performance. Lots of love for JLG's Romeo too. Gorgeous voice. And I quite fancy him so that's nice.
What was slightly peeving was that I was surrounded by what looked like a sea of teenagers most of whom clearly hadn't had to pay for a ticket. Dunno if they were all from a drama school. A few friends of cast around me too. I appreciate they need to paper for word of mouth and I understand it. But it is annoying when as a genuine fan you have to cough up 75 quid for a good seat. I don't have a solution to this issue sadly!
As for the "top price" for 15 quid or whatever it is offers, they are ALWAYS the back rows of top price non premium. Which as we all know is basically the entire stalls bar the back 4 ish rows in most theatres. Sadly GILT is like that too these days - always rows R/S/T..... I'd love to be proven wrong this year!

Re wigs: it's because, unless you have very short hair, the stage lights generally melt any product you put on your hair (gel/spray etc) and the sweat from your head also causes your hair-do to go flat. In some shows, also, the wiring and clips for your mic are hidden under a wig. It also means that if you're playing lots of characters you can look different very easily, but I guess this doesn't apply in this case. |
