I actually had, "oh no!" on one occasion when I said I was on my own. You could see them thinking, "poor old thing."
I love going on my own, though, and agree with what everyone else says about choosing what to see and when, and where to sit etc. Lately I have found that the seat next to me is also occupied by a theatre singleton, and we have struck up several nice conversations.
The single seat business is a total bugbear, though. I recently booked seats for a group of friends (I do have them and do go out with them sometimes!), and subsequently a couple more asked if they could join us. I tried to book on line - which meant leaving a single seat. Computer said no, so I phoned the box office. I was told in no uncertain terms that they could not leave a single seat. "So my friends can't sit next to me?" "No, it's our policy not to leave single seats. They can sit behind you." I tried the old double browser trick, but on this case it wasn't having it. It was the offhand, "we shall not be moved" manner that wound me up.

Edit to get back on topic - seeing &Juliet twice on my own in Manc and can't bl**dy wait :-) Manchester, like London, I generally don't feel at all conspicuous on my own! Yes, sorry about that, my fault for bringing the topic up! When are you seeing it in MCR?

I'm going all the way from Kent to Manchester to see this show first (and cheaper) than in London. Two trains to get there, coach and a train to get back. If I enjoy it enough and there are discounted tickets later I'll book again for the Shaftesbury.
I don't drive and my partner still works so I go to most shows alone weekdays though sometimes with her in the car at the weekend. I enjoy rail and coach travel anyway

I’m off watching this on my own in Manc next weekend and can’t wait. The whole solo theatre visits for me has never been an issue and it’s something I actually enjoy doing. I often end up in conversations about theatre generally or the particular production we’ve come to watch with other patrons pre-show or during intervals which has been nice.
Trying to sort out my own theatre trip diary can be stressful enough, particularly as I have to factor in the travel and accommodation arrangements as well so if it’s just me it makes it so much easier to organise, particularly when a theatre releases its upcoming season,I can just sit with the computer and diary to plan it all out. Though I do hate it when you get a few theatres having booking periods opening on the same day and you have to juggle the different booking systems at the same time.
Another frustration like others have commented is having the “sorry you cannot purchase the seat as it would leave a single seat” box pop up during an online purchase. I can appreciate that the theatre’s don’t want to leave single seats, but I’m sure that there will be other single theatre goers who will purchase that seat further down the road.

Cast recording confirmed for November 20th! I think its really brave of them to announce a cast recording, and the track list on a new show, before its officially opened. Don't get me wrong, I think its great that its getting one, as it keeps a show alive once its closes. They must be really set on the show how it is, and not planning any changes once it opens in Manchester

I suppose having the cast CD ready early doors means it is available in the theatres when the show is playing.

Even the tone of their social media posts is putting me off booking this!
I think Miriam-Teak Lee is hugely talented and would love to see her onstage again, but the more I read and hear about this, the less appealing it sounds!

Do we know if it starts with (ancient spoiler alert)...Romeo dead or is it a re-imagining of the whole play or some kind of flashback thing.I know it will hardly matter in a crazy train-wreck of an idea like this, but just curious.Think it will be as mad as a box of frogs, but will support it...might work better after a long sesh in the nearest pub🍷....sometimes bonkers fun in the theatre is all you need, especially atm in this country of ours.
