The rumours are true; As part of the Playhouse's 2019 Autumn season.
Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Tony Award-winning musical Assassins will be revived with a new production directed by Bill Buckhurst (who oversaw the recent revival of Sweet Charity at the venue). Co-produced with the Watermill Theatre, the piece runs from 30 October to 16 November, with casting and full creative team to be announced.
On sale 15 March.

Means there isn't any immediate sign of the piece in the hands of Marianne Elliot... Also only a 2 week run. But, having only seen a schools edition version of this, I'm very much looking forward to seeing a pro show.

Great news. Loved the Madness of King George production so it will be great to see a musical at the Playhouse.

This is on at Romford in April, I’m assuming it’s not the same production?

Romford has the Brookside Theatre.
There's another interesting musical there in April called "What A Glorious Feeling" described as "the story of Singing in the Rain"

Romford has the Brookside Theatre. They should stage the Chanel 4 soap opera

They should stage the Chanel 4 soap opera Appreciate this is TIC, but the attempt at a Goodnight Sweetheart musical there last year was disappointing at best and as for the Coronation Street musical travesty back in 2012....

Thanks for the heads up david £10.50 sounds like a steal... ARGHHHH here we go again...... Frustrating as you can't 'buy' or basket the green seat next to it either. So someone will have to buy one seat at £10.50 and another at £19.50. Idiotic.

Terrible that this discrimination exists. And to make it worse the playhouse receives to public funds to allow this happen.

I wanted a more central seat on Row C, but because the computer system said NO! to me leaving a single seat, I ended up getting a seat on Row B near the end of the row. Though for £10.50 it was a bargain anyway.

Just had the same issue. I was able to find another seat at the same price, but I always find it irritating when theatres do this.
(After my visit-from-hell to the Nottingham Playhouse for The Madness of George III, there are very few titles that would induce me to go back there... but this is one of them. And after that visit-from-hell, I'm not going to be giving them any more of my money than is absolutely necessary.)

I emailed them. They ignored it. Nottingham is a bit difficult to get to. So I'll spend what little money I have at a venue that might value my custom. Is The Playhouse the one that keeps the animals caged in the cafe?
