A lady has replied to Alfie's tweet saying that 'John Owen Jones isn't a patch on you' even though John is tagged in the tweet... she's asking for trouble! To be honest I wouldn’t imagine JOJ gives a toss - he’s got more shows and more publicity Some of his fans will be disappointed to see Alfie too I'm sure

How lovely. Is there a better male singer in London's glitzy West End than Rob Houchen?

Last chance to hear Les Miserables played by anything like a full orchestra, rather than a single musician and a Yamaha Clavinova!

Not very often somebody plays Enjolras, comes back as Javert, then comes back again 6 weeks later as Enjolras!

This isn’t the most inspired casting, at all. Not that they’re not good, just that I’d have liked to see someone new take on the role of Marius and Enjolras.

Extra seats released. Having a quick flick through looks like some seats in front row stalls available most performances at £97.50

Not very often somebody plays Enjolras, comes back as Javert, then comes back again 6 weeks later as Enjolras! I guess though, as it's billed as an All Star Concert, it's quite an honour to be cast in any principal role. Ramin Karimloo (although he didn't play Valjean until a year later) was Enjolras in the 25th Anniversary Concert, having already played Phantom in POTO and Love Never Dies.
But yes, it would be odd if this was a regular production.

Last chance to hear Les Miserables played by anything like a full orchestra, rather than a single musician and a Yamaha Clavinova! I know you're joking, but as already mentioned in the other Les Mis thread, the size of the orchestra is not changing - at least not between the two productions at the Queens. However, I have no idea what size of orchestra to expect in the concert version, with it's "cast and orchestra of over 65".
As the current London production already uses the new orchestrations, I wonder why they feel the need to replace the existing musicians with new ones. But the size will remain at 14.

John Owen Jones superior to Alfie Boe in the role in every way. The subtlety in his voice, the color, the nuances, the acting, the building of the notes, the changes between the notes, the changing of intention in a note. He is a master of this craft and especially in this role. I find his performance to be incredibly refined, sincere and truthful.
Boe is a good operatic singer, but lacks all nuance and leans on technique and loudness most of the time. Are JOJ's dates announced?

Monday and Thursday evenings plus Wednesday matinees generally, with a few exceptions depending on Alfie’s leave.

He is definitive in the role (though I will say Killian Donnely has massively grown on me having seen him in Birmingham last weekend - but he's not JOJ levels). Am sure the JOJ performances will be filled with many more MT and longstanding Les Mis fans than the clientele at the B&B show dates.

Just booked a pair of the front row seats for a JOJ night. Glad there was one I could get to!

This is why I am one of the happy ones with the early November swap around. I couldn't justify going for this alone so booked the matinee before Mary Poppins in the evening, I'd have been happy seeing Alfie but really am happier seeing John Owen Jones!!!

I don’t think Boe is a good operatic singer.

I've not seen Boe so can't compare but JOJ cannot be beaten for me. I haven't got a ticket but would only go for him. He just is Valjean for me. I mean his name is even pretty much the Welsh version of Jean Valjean.
