Maybe everyone is under estimating the draw of Alfie Boe and the tickets are sold. He has a huge social media following and I think people who normally don't go or go rarely to musicals or the West End would've booked tickets. I don't disagree that he is a big draw, and I'm sure all of his performance will sell out. However, not overnight - there was availability for a lot of his dates yesterday, and now not a single seat? And in case some of you don't know, the Delfont site goes under maintenance every night for 3 hours. So I highly doubt so many dates sold out overnight.

Don't get me wrong, I would completely support that people should get a full refund in a concert setting, and especially with how they've advertised Carrie, Alfie, Matt and Michael but come on, this is Mackintosh were talking about, and millions of pounds to potentially lose. I would imagine the whole T&C would be argued and he would be very unlikely to do refunds.

Exactly. The way they've advertised it, most people will go not just for the show, but also to see a certain performer (and some of these are legends), and have booked a certain date accordingly (alternate schedule has been there from day one). I'm sure there will be a line in the T&Cs that they cannot guarantee the appearance of any artist at any performance. Yes but there's a different between someone being ill and someone not being contracted to do a role at all. If one of them pulls out completely that's different to calling in sick

Yes it is quite a mystery. I've contacted Vera and she is going to look into it straight away.

Well it is quite possible they are sold out as even the JOJ performances are now very busy! There are seats to be had on Mon & Thurs evenings and Wed matinee but many fewer than only a couple of days ago. I can see this being a total sell out many months before it opens!

Unless you are on a board like this would you really know when the "last" performance is? Whereas if you are a fan of Ball, Boe or CHF you can't help but be inundated by Facebook and Twitter that the concerts are happening. Also, I think most fans won't see the significance of the close and will see it as the show continuing. If it was the last ever show it would have sold out in a flash. Indeed that's kind of what I mean. So many people on this board (myself included) gutted to see the original go but to Joe Public it's fairly meaningless. Someone like my Dad could see it at the Queen's today, then a year from now, and probably wouldn't spot a difference. Means of course Cam Mac can do whatever he likes as the number of people upset about it (amplified on this board) are something like 0.00001% of the total audience. And we'll all keep paying to go anyway lol! Having said all that, re the concert, I am also slightly taken aback that Alfie Boe has been SO popular - never realised he was such a megastar. (One caveat - out of all the hardcore Les Mis fans who have loved the original over the last 35 years - I am STILL surprised that that isn't enough people to quickly sell out that final Queen's performance).

I'm not surprised at all about the popularity of Alfie Boe. He sells out arenas and his albums sell by the truck load. I know 2 lots of friends who have paid top doller to see this concert and they are not really MT fans. More fans of Alfie.

They've turned themselves into a bit of a double act with albums/tours/tv, so the prospect of both of them together in a show is going to entice that audience.

Alfie Boe is doing the more convenient shows to be fair. I'm seeing him, I live on the South Coast and prefer to do Saturday matinees. But also I hate to admit this but I'd not heard of John Owen Jones and had heard of Alfie Boe. I'm not a hard-core Les Mis fan, I've seen it once before now, and I'd call my general musical theatre fandom pretty casual until recently.
Similarly I cared enough to book to see the original Les Mis again before it closes but didn't even think to book the last night. I guess there's quite a lot of people in my position, where they recognise it's a big deal that it's ending in it's current format but haven't thought about being there for the last night.

I appreciate your honesty actually and it’s refreshing to hear an opinion from someone who is clearly passionate enough about shows to join and post here, but who may not be as obsessive as some of us (myself included). I’ve said to everyone’s boredom hundreds of times on here and it’s predecessors over the years, having seen most of them in the last 18 years or so, John Owen-Jones is the definitive Valjean. I strongly recommend you see him if you can.

More tickets available on the Delfont website. Limited tickets but available for all days. Not sure but the price for stalls tickets look like they have increased.

Just been at Company sat in the seat I’ll be in for the concert. E24. Legroom a go-go and a brilliant close up view. Is Alfie a spitter by any chance?

I was going to book for this, but after seeing the prices I am not bothering. I have seen LES MIS numerous times over the years, and have seen it both with John Owen-Jones and Alfie Boe. I would have liked to have seen Michael Ball as Javert, as a big fan of his, but I cannot justify the prices just for him. I may wait for the remount of LES MIS back at the Queen’s as I have never seen the touring production. I'm sure there will be a cinema sceening, if not live then recorded live, plus a DVD and maybe even a TV showing eventually.

He has a huge social media following and I think people who normally don't go or go rarely to musicals or the West End would've booked tickets. Yes, but they don't need to sell the tickets- they sell themselves. Actually they do that day in and day out. And they sell themselves with a good cast that can act and sing the just as well as they will with either a star cast that includes names, who can't act the roles, or sing them, or look the part. , or a concert cast which includes a few people who actually might qualify as past real stars.
The difference is how much you can get away with charging, when fans have an additional motive.
Which leads to the meaning of life issue - why be so concerned about making your second billion, when you have one, and have already had one run in with mortality?

There's a reason why it was Valjean and Eponine who won the big acting awards for the show.

Matt Lucas was on the Graham Norton show last Friday talking partly about the Gielgud Les Mis concert. It's on the BBC i Player starting 32 minutes in.
He said that it covers 97% of the content in the current London production and there will be up to 65 people between the cast (costumed) and orchestra on the stage. The cuts are mainly linked to there not being a revolving stage.
Sounds good. I wasn't expecting a concert production to be that close to the full musical.

Is Matt Lucas confirmed as Thénardier then? When did that happen?
