Were the songs original or songs from different musicals? With Qdos pantos they tend to be a bit of both with pop songs also. I imagine it's the same for this.

It really was fantastic. Amanda Holden is the only weak link. What exactly is she supposed to be good at? Julian C and Paul O together are worth the price. Lavish production all round. Lee M and Nigel H take the piss out of their images and Natasha B is delightful. Had never heard of Paul Z but he really is the glue that holds it all together. He has such warmth, talent and enthusiasm that the audience were in the palm of his hand. Lots of smutty innuendo and very near the knuckle at times. They really do get lots of use of the Chitty mechanics.
The audience loved it. The 3 hours really flew by!

Paul Zerdin is hilarious. A panto regular around the country. Gets rave reviews wherever he goes.

Also winner of America's Got Talent in his spare time! if anyone has seen the "human ventriloquism" commonly associated with Nina Conti...unless I'm mistaken it was actually Paul who first performed that trick some years ago.

Weird, they used that in the version of Peter Pan with Craig Revel Horwood I saw a few years back (never again). Must be cheap.

BIB - It was... and he's doing it in this show (first time he has in panto, I think). Very funny. At three hours, it's something of a marathon, but I guess that makes the exorbitant ticket prices somewhat better value for money! First time I've seen Paul O'Grady in panto and I thought he was brilliant. Julian was more of a known quantity and together I found the innuendo less relentless but the funnier for it. Having two such good voices in Lee Mead and Natasha Barnes in the cast was a real treat, though inevitably given the number of 'star turns' to accommodate, we heard less from them than I would have liked. The sets were simple but effective, the costumes lavish and numerous, the effects spectacular and all the standard panto elements present... except the babes, no children in this cast. The script was less original than I'd hoped (having seen a number of QDOS pantos previously, there was much that was familiar) and the whole a tad fragmented (all those 'star turns' again), but no less entertaining for that. In other words, I thoroughly enjoyed it

Have the Wicked Sisters got a big part in the show? Or are they not really in it much?

So what do people think next year's panto will be? I was originally thinking that it could be Aladdin but since the musical of that is playing over the road then I don't think they'll put the panto version of it at the Palladium. I hope and think it will be Snow White & the 7 dwarfs - that's a very popular panto too. I really hope it isn't Peter Pan as that's my least favourite panto Dick Whittington with John Barrowman wouldnt surprise me as one of them I love panto but 3 hours seem a bit long for a panto

Sounds like a good show but I still wont pay £72 for a decent seat but realise there won't be offers as it's only a 5 week run.

It's a wonderful show and the price for tickets goes to the talent rather than CGI effects. Also since there are no children you are paying a full cast, not local children. Everyone had a star turn. Could have done with a bit more of Lee Mead and Natasha Barnes as the Prince and Cinderella, they are in great voice and have wonderful chemistry, but it was expected that Paul O Gray and Julien Clary would have the most "face time". Paul Zerden's Buttons is very funny as is Nigel Havers' Lord Chamberlin.
It will not go on offer but book thru the actual site to save fees. In the upper circle you will still have a good view.
It may be 3 hours but the time Flys by.

Most stage-school mums would actually pay Qdos to thrust their over-praised, jazz-handed offspring onto a stage with such a stellar cast! What fantastic experience it would be for them in such company! I have no idea about Qdos, but provincial pantos not only don't pay the child dancers but they also have to buy their own dance shoes and, if needed, specialist underwear such as tights, bodies and Bridget Jones pants if they have quick changes within 3 miles of an adult. No travel expenses or lunch included either! I'm glad everyone seems to like it - I'm going Christmas eve.

Those are not has beens, Amanda holden aside they all have proven panto experience and while people like to mock panto is an art form that not everyone can pull off. This is much better than some american celeb who doesn't 'get it'

Absolutely Bear! Would you like a hosiery lesson? I hope I'm not being presumptive in thinking that tights that would fit a 9 year old girl would not fit you? So they are specialist in that the costume department would not be allowed to fit them on a child, as they would a costume. They leave that to their mothers!
