Phew glad I didn't get tickets based on the back of 'WE'RE GETTING STARS, NOT CELEBRITIES, GOD HONEST STARS'. I mean surely they could afford something exotic like an American? But I'm liking the idea of getting gay men to dress up in drag, topical.

I'm sorry but for those prices I expected the Palladium show to trump the C list American casting from the past few years in the regions.
I'm pleased for Natasha, a smart move that will give extra publicity. Alas I won't be going though.

Suzie Chard played an ugly sister in Soho cinders along with Beverly Rudd and they were hysterical.

Sorry... Who are the Ugly Sisters? That's what I thought. I mean it's not like Wendy and Suzie are exactly big MT names which makes me think the stepsisters won't be huge roles in this show and the stepmother will be the one who does all the locking and tearing up etc. If the sisters were big MT names like say two Strallen sisters, then that's different

I genuinely don't know who has been cast! (And I can't be arsed to trawl back through all the threads to see...)

Sorry... Who are the Ugly Sisters? You've probably caught up by now, but in case not - Suzie Chard and Wendy Somerville

I hadn't. Thank you, CG. I could ask who they were again, but that would be silly. I'll Google! Edit: Ok, the first one, yeah. The second took a bit of Googling as my first attempt took me to some kind of counsellor... Still as wise really.

Yes, I saw that too (the show at the Soho, not the concert...) and although they were good, I remember Michael Xavier and Jenna Russell more! (I wish I could remember the young chap who sang Glass Slippers, because he did very well, and I love the song.)

Wendy was terrific in Hairspray and is such a good comic that between her and Natasha I'm almost tempted to book.

Pleased for Natasha, but thinking about a strange casting given that Kim Kardashian, Kylie and Britney were all apparently offered the part.

The media were the ones claiming Kim, Kylie and Britney had been approached. I don't believe for one moment that Kim was ever approached (no singing or acting experience), and if Kylie/Britney were approached, it would have been for the role of Fairy Godmother (in the article I saw about Britney, it was mentioned that the role was small, so the rest of the cast could carry the show - which doesn't sound like Cinders).

If people say Wendy and Suzie are both really comical and funny, it's probably the reason they were given the parts. I'm sure though if the stepsisters were gonna be the main villains, they would of been celebrities rather than small theatre stars?

Of course, there are many, many tasteless Charming / Fanny puns and jokes to be made, but I for one shall not be doing any of them. Yeah ... I reckon you'll hold out less than a day.

Wow, so she was just offered the part. A star is born! Not strictly true - producer and co-director watched her in FG, then offered her the role. Still great, though. Indeed. She was offered the part rather than auditioning.

Sad that this is the biggest panto cast they could get.
I'll be seeing something else this Christmas!

Sad that this is the biggest pant cast they could get. I'll be seeing something else this Christmas! Generally I would agree. The Birmingham Hippodrome has produced similar casts in the past - Lee Mead, Julian Clary etc. even Joan Collins. Wimbledon have presented - Pricilla Presley and Pamela Anderson etc. I would have expected a BIG American name somewhere on the cast list who perhaps has never done panto before and been a real surprise. I would have thought the Palladium would have attracted some big stars, rather than the usual panto casts.

I beg to differ Wickedgrin - Americans just don't GET panto I don't think. Clary, O'Grady and Mead are panto pros! And can I shame-facedly add that I've never heard of any of the 3 girls cast yesterday but I'm glad everyone is happy! My tickets just arrived.

Wimbledon haven't announced their cast yet but if they get a huge American name, the palladium could loose some punters to them. I'm surprised they didn't get a British legend like Joan Collins to be the fairy godmother and then Amanda Holden could of done another part?

I'd say there's a HUGE difference between the New Wimbledon and Palladium Panto audience, George22. You would be far too young to remember, but for entire generations, the Palladium WAS the annual panto event in literally millions of diaries around the country - and it could run to Easter at times. The current producers are cleverly cashing in on the nostalgia and it is working for them. The New Wimbledon is the big one outside the West End (along with Hackney Empire, now, perhaps) but it won't affect the Palladium audience one iota, unless they nab Beiber, Swift and Spears themselves, I'd say. Quite agree. They're clearly casting people that can do and get panto. Joan Collins was terrible when she did the hippodrome one years back. They've got a list of bankable performers, bigger than any other panto casts in the country. If the Wimbledon rumours are true the palladium will have nothing to worry about at all, if the lady in question signs on its going to be a case of 'who?' followed by 'oh....' followed by a queue at the palladium for tickets.
