Interesting. What song was the big opening number? It was still OWABM, the staging was just different as mentioned above. I really enjoyed it. I got to go free because I was under 26. Those were the days. |

It is indeed Oklahoma They are also reviving the musical This is My Family I believe(which was done in Sheffield originally?) Any news on choreography? Will it be usual Daniel Evans and Alaister David’s dream team? As he did the choreo for bbc proms or will it be different? Would love Christopher Wheeldon to have a crack at it! Can you imagine the dream ballet!!!?? |

If this is my family is the second musical I’m sure EVans Is doing two musical approach. One big and old School other new or crucible revival. Seems like after his past two musicals he’s had enough of the big classic musical and is going for the more intimate quirky one to stage living proof as “flowers for miss Harris” was the more critically acclaimed show last year. .. the plot definitely has thickened. , I deffo do know they are doing Oklahoma, but can’t wait till the 14th to see what news shall Be! |

If it is Oklahoma, this is very tedious programming IMO. As someone else said, at least it's one not to worry about finding a date for. Hope the rest of the programme is more interesting. Wasn't there a rumour in the plays' section that CFT is doing "The Deep Blue Sea" yet again? If both of these rumours are true then this appears to be a really unimaginative season. I'm afraid I can't get excited about a newish musical about a family camping in the rain either.
I had such high hopes when Daniel Evans was first appointed.

I know it is dissapointing!!!
Surprised at Oklahoma, as I would have thought the rights would have been locked, because of the pending Broadway production and if this is successful, it will stop that critically acclaimed production coming over.
Same could be said about Evita, which is being done in the Open Air Regent’s Park, this will more then likely stop the Australian production of Evita with Tina Arena and Paula Szot, which I was hoping that ENO would have done next year as there big musical.

Well I have only just seen the programme as I have been living in the dark ages for the last 2 days as 2 b***ards stole my phone yesterday whilst I was on the underground.
However seems I haven't missed much, no missed calls, no messages....
Only had a brief look at the programme but don't think I will make a trip there for Oklahoma with the 3 cast members they have announced so far.

I think Oklahoma casting is quite good to be honest. Age appaoratoate and good singers actors/actresses. Amara was superb as cosette, and it’s good to have BAME actress playing Laurey which doesn’t have political or racial or historically accurate importance like everyone’s who’s been making a fuss with Evita has gone.
I think I will be seeing it to Against the grain of people who won’t. Sounds promising. Who knows, never seen Oklahoma live!

I got tickets for This is My Family which looks as if it might be fun.
Didn't bother with Oklahoma as the casting wasn't exciting enough for me to make 2 trips there this summer

Sorry about that. Should have mentioned friends. I'm going to see it in May and there was very little availability. Shadowlands also heavily booked. Didn't check for Oklahoma. |

Oklahoma on general sale now. Plenty of availability including £10 side seats in the front couple of rows which I recommend as particularly good value with minimal restriction on the view.

Thanks for the tip off about the £10 seats. Just grabbed a front row seat for the closing week. Now just got to hope it finishes on time to get a train back to London (or work out an alternative arrangement).

Oklahoma can run from about 2 hr 40 to just under 3 hours. You should be okay for the 22.40 back to Victoria. Station is a 10 minute brisk walk.
I've has a few close shaves travelling long distances by public transport. Last week in Cardiff the show I was seeing ( How To Succeed In Business...) ran for 3 hours until 10.30pm, the bus stop was a 10 minutes walk away and the last bus to get me back into central Cardiff for the train was leaving 15 minutes later. I called out "any kind person able to give me a lift into the city centre ?" and a lovely lady offered. Not yet had to take an expensive taxi but will happen one day.

Georgie Ashford has implied in her most recent YouTube video that she has been cast in this giving clues but not actually being allowed to say what it is until it's annoinced. I'm also aware, based on what I overheard at a stage door recently, one of the ex-42nd Street cast members next jobs is at Chichester, which would line up with this.
