Finally saw this last night, really enjoyed it and great to see the spectacle after seeing a lot of scaled-back productions recently (not that they were bad, just nice for a change!). Jamie will be VERY hard to beat, thought the rest of the cast were strong too. Is this a bigger cast change coming up or just Jamie leaving? It’s a big cast change, nearly all (if not all) of the principals are leaving if what I’ve heard is correct, and from social media posts over the past week or so, a fair few of the ensemble & swings are departing too. |

Satine is far too big of a sing for Alexia - her singing is OK, but not to the level required for Satine. . How has the principal Satine been this year? I went twice in the first year, and thought Tanisha (as standby) was a lot stronger than Liisi.

I have been informed, but a fairly reputable source, that a casting announcement is due at the end of next week or early the following week.
There is a high number of incoming cast members currently in contract with other productions; including Satine and Christian, and some negotiation for early release has had to take place (I was not able to find out whether this is the case for Satine).
So the plan is to announce casting shortly.
^please don't ask me to explain how that effects casting announcements. I do not know. This is what I have been told.

Not sure if anyone else went to that tech / backstage insight talk a few hours ago today.. as that was very enjoyable !! for a fiver they performed the first 3 minutes of the show, had all backstage departments do their own talk about what they do for M.R and had a quick Q&A at the end for us to ask about how we can work in the industry. I’ve said it before but the spectacle of this show is something else, to have seen how they unfold the Satine boudoir was really great ! They did a quick change onstage with one of the ensemble can can girls too, showing how fast the transition is into Diamonds. A few more secrets were revealed, like how the swords that sword swallowers use for the pre-show are actually a snap band metal and get rolled into their mouths ..

I think that new casting will be imminent also, it was said that they start rehearsals in 3(?) weeks or so and how that process lasts 6 weeks.

I’ve seen Moulin Rouge twice, and on both occasions, Tanisha was on as Satine. I thought she was absolutely fantastic - delighted she’s been given the role!

Joining them will be Ivan De Freitas (& Juliet) as Santiago, Charlotte Gooch (Dirty Dancing) as Nini, Anthony Cragg (Starlight Express) as Baby Doll, Bernadette Bangura (My Fair Lady) as La Chocolat and Angela Marie Hurst (TINA: The Tina Turner Musical) who will play Alternate Satine.
Continuing in their roles are Matt Rixon as Harold Zidler, Ian Carlyle as Toulouse-Lautrec, Ben Richards as The Duke, Hannah Jay-Allan as Arabia and Rochelle Sherona as Arabia (maternity cover).

Never seen Moulin Rouge but would go for Tanisha Spring, and the comments above suggest I should buy a ticket and go and see for myself.
